A Clera flyer came to our door just as we were contemplating new windows and based on the great review on Homestars as well as the initial meeting with the salesperson Vick, we decided to go with them. The first clue that things were amiss came when Vick insisted that my husband had to be at the house to sign the contract with me. This struck me as very odd and was a big scheduling pain for us as he travels for his job and wasn't too sure what his presence was required for. Well, it became very clear that Vick wanted to deal with him with respect to anything financial. Alex noticed that whenever financing or money came up Vick look at and spoke only to Alex. I was just stunned during the meeting and wish I had just shut the whole thing down at that point. Vick actually asked if it was "his cheque" that I was giving him for the void cheque required for the financing. I pointed out that there were this things called joint chequing accounts and the cheque as for "our" account. Then came the endless requests for Vick to contact me via email. I would email him a question, like when the heck the installation was going to happen, only to have him call my phone to respond. He didn't respond with the answer, just a request to call him. I run my own business and deal directly with clients so, as I explained to him over and over again, I couldn't pick up the phone when he called. I even resorted to emailing the general address at Clera to complain. They just passed the email on to him. Installation day comes and Vick decides he's going to be at my house all day. By this point I couldn't stand the guy and I had to "entertain" him all day. The windows weren't done the first day so Vick told me the workers had to come back the next. I asked him if they needed access to the house and he told me they didn't. There was a language issue with the installers so I'm not sure if anyone really understood what was going on. Day 2 arrives and the workers need access to the house. I had a couple of appointments that I suddenly had to take my dog with me to. If I had left her locked in a room in the house she would have barked all day and disturbed the neighbours. The windows are installed but recently, less than a year later, I discover a couple won't lock. That starts a more than month long campaign to get the windows fixed. I specifically ask that Vick not contact me, and guess what? Yup, he calls. I found my endless calls to the company were not returned and when at last I ask to escalate to the VP, suddenly someone calls to fix them. I was given 30 minutes notice. It was extremely luck that I was home otherwise I'm sure I'd still be waiting. The windows, according to the repair person, were done incorrectly with parts that are no longer used. And, here's the thing, and the reason I'm finally writing this. I can't believe that the VP did not call personally to apologize and that NO ON at the company has called to confirm that everything is now working and I am satisfied. I honestly find it very difficult to believe these other reviews are legit. Perhaps rather than running a decent business the staff spends their time writing glowing reviews for their own company.
