Hello Jeremie,
We thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review. We're quite dismayed to hear of the experience you're detailing. We at Clera strive for each and every project to go seamlessly and work collectively to ensure our customers are satisfied with the overall
outcome of their projects each and every time. You mentioned that it took 7 months to complete the job, your contract was signed on May 20th and your windows were installed on
Sept 11th which is not bad considering all the delays due to Covid-19. . Please see below reply from our local branch “ The 50% off installation (winter promo) period had expired at the time that we signed the contract and we offered 42% off the installation (spring promo) which was applied to the customers contract . As for the basement window, the window is bucked in tight to the jamb and because the jamb is 2x8 pressure treated lumber it’s formed into the actual block. A complete new opening had to be made. The window was then finished in the exterior with cement and capping was placed on top of the unit. For the door the customer talks about a piece of wood placed under the existing door, we took out a steel door and put in a new steel door and there was a 2" piece of hardwood to the size of the Sill which was left and that wasn't to be removed .The new door was to sit on top like the existing door was, all we had to do was cap the exterior underneath to give it a finished look which we did on the last day. Also, for the basement window the customer indicated that we didn’t finish the interior trim like other companies would. When this job was sold it was just a block wall no interior basement wall was there so when this job was sold it was sold with no jamb extension or trim to finish the inside basement window as we did not know what the wall dimension would become once the unit was completed and his new wall was done, at the time of sale. However, because of covid and the slow manufacturing of the windows, the customer did manage to finish his wall before we could put in the window. It was still not our responsibility nor was it written in the contract that we had to finish the inside jamb extension or trim. He also stipulates that cold comes through the window, on the day that I was there, there was no exterior openings and no draft could be felt in the inside. The customer also talks about a building permit worth $2,600 yet the job was $7,000. The cost of the building permit was only obtained for the basement cut-out . The building permit was delayed because of where the customer lives we contacted one building inspector which is from Deep River which is where the customer's address is and upon his inspection several weeks later he then told us that location was out of his jurisdiction. We than had to contact the building inspector from Laurentian, it took the second building inspector much longer to come to verify the job. Once inspected the inspector had no issues with the job as done and the permit was issued. We also provided the customer with extra work at no additional cost.
Best wishes!
