    Fixed leak in shower pipe

I had JUST moved into my first condo, and my very first home purchase ever, only to find that there was a leak behind the shower's faucet. Not knowing at all what to do (as a new home owner), I called Mr. Rooter that day and had someone come by later that evening. The man who did the work was quick, polite and even explained to me why it happened and how to avoid it for next time. I would definitely hire them in the future for their reliability.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Alyson for taking the time to post this favourable review. We pride ourselves on reliable and efficient service and we appreciate having it recognized. New homeowners can visually check all plumbing, for example flush all the toilets, turn the taps off and on and take a look at the drain lines under the sinks and check to see if drains are clear. If there's anything that doesn't look satisfactory or causes any concern feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to come out. Of if you are not comfortable with checking out the plumbing on your own we do provide plumbing inspections and can provide you with detailed information of our findings.

    Drain repair

We had 2 drain back-ups in our house. Frano cleared the first one and was very helpful in explaining the issue with our drain. After the second back-up we decided to go with his advice and have a liner put in (no-digging!). He was very quick to respond and set up an appointment. He & his team handled all the paperwork with the City for the tree rebate and completed the job while we went to work. A couple days later Frano came back when we got home from work so we could see the completed job at our convenience. He is very accommodating and knowledgeable! He is even going to come back in a year to show us how the new fiberglass drain is holding up... right Frano? ;-) Thanks again!!

    Answer from pro:

We are thrilled to hear you're glowing review of Frano and our Formadrain team. We will definitely be back out within a year to follow up with you and ensure your drain line is fine. Many customers facing drain issues are worried about having their property excavated, and in certain circumstances we can avoid digging and use the Formadrain lining system. The Formadrain process repairs pipes of all sizes and shapes. It uses existing access points, so no digging is required. It can be used to repair collapsed , split or cracked pipes, as well as pipes clogged by roots, water infiltration and leakage problems resulting from aging, corrosion, wear and tear or accidental breakage.

    plumbing

Brian Pellett of Mr Rooter provided a quick, careful and accurate soultion to (what could have been) a terrible mess. Within the hour Brian arrived, tools in hand ready to investigate the source of our plumbing mishap. With a lovely demeanor and warm smile Brian did an exceptional job. I will not hesitate to call Mr Rooter again for such impressive service.

    Checked backed up sewer

The first day we moved into our new house the sewer backed up. We called several companies to get someone to come immediately. Unfortunately we didn't think to call Mr. Rooter first and another company had started the job before their rep came. However, he checked it out and told us some questions to ask the company doing the work, offering to come again with a camera to check it out. The other company had said we needed to rip up our basement floor and replace pipes inside the house as well as the outside pipes they were already working on. The Mr Rooter rep, with his camera, told us it wasn't necessary to do the work under the house - saving us over $10,000!! Thanks Mr. Rooter! We'll call you first next time.

    unclogging drain

We called this company when our drain backed up in our basement. The technician George told us he would unclog the drain AND LOCATE the problem for us by using a camera line. After spending about one hour working, he charged us more than $600.00 (did not tell us we were purchasing some kind of chemical for the drain system even though apparently it was included in the pricing). He then told us that he "forgot his pipe locater" at the office and would have to return the following week.....at which time he told us he would charge us another $325.00 to do a locate!!! I contacted the manager at which point he said he would send the technician back to do the locate and that he should not have told us there would be an extra charge. He did come back eventually, however.....the location he gave us was completely wrong!! We had the Town waterworks Dept. come out and do a camera inspection and the location they gave us was completely different from the one Mr. Rooter gave us. I feel that this company only tries to get as much money as they possibly can without doing a proper job. We tried to reason with the company and ask for a refund as the camera inspection they gave us was of no use to us, at which point they gave us back $40.00 out of the $300.00 plus that we paid for the camera inspection, plus some coupons that we could use in the future! They also said that ONLY IF we had them do further repair work, they would refund the amount of the camera inspection. They take your money and once they have it they use it as leverage to get you to have them do more work. I would never recommed this company to anyone!!

clay tile under concrete floor replaced with PVC pipe

My basement drain backed up and I had Mr. Rooter camera the drain pipes in the basement floor. The TV image saw roots from a tree in a section of old style clay tile pipes at the front corner of the house. They gave me the option of digging outside or inside. Because my basement was temporarily empty, I picked inside saving my concrete driveway. The work was done in one day and included the concrete floor being repaired. Two men worked all day to dig up and replace 5 feet of clay tile with PVC pipe. Another big plumbing company wanted to replace the entire system for 9-10 grand. That may have been the perfect fix, but the very experienced Mr. Rooter inspector clearly explained, and showed the clay tiles were in good shape and did not need replacement. There were no surprises, and the company is very professional. My renovator recommended them so that shows they are respected by the trades. Now my insurance company can rebuild my basement rec-room.

    Plumbing - residential water-line replacement

This was the first plumbing problem for us and unfortunately it was a major job. I called around, got some quotes but Bob from Mr Rooter was the most helpful and re-assuring and instilled confidence in us that although this seemed like a huge undertaking to us, for him and his crew it would be a routine, efficient one-day job and we'd have water by that afternoon. Although the crew didn't show up at the agreed time of 9am, when I called Bob at about 9:30, he apologized profusely, called me back promptly and said they would be there shortly and they were. The crew -Vadim, 'Olek' and Tony - were great; removed their shoes and/or covered them every time on entry into the house; worked diligently and carefully, replaced the concrete and cleaned up the basement and outdoor area where they worked extremely well. Bob was great for after-service when I noticed a slightly moist area on the pipe, he promptly returned, explained the cause and tightened the coupling in question and it's been perfect since. We are exceptionally satisfied with Bob, his crew and Mr. Rooter's service.

Repaired drain pipe due to city tree root problem

In this day of being busy with every day life, it is comforting to know that you still get great and honest service, value, and trustworthy work. Frano Sain and his wonderful team (Ihor's crew) was excellent not only in the work that was initiated and completed on time but also taking the time to educate and discuss what the problem was and the necessary requirements to get the job done right--Again, thanks again Frano and the entire Ihor Crew. Cheers. Luke

    Leaking ceiling under bathroom

We had a leak in our dining room ceiling which is right under the bathrooms. We called Mr Rooter and they were out very promptly. He and my husband checked flushed the toilet and ran the shower but he was unable to find anything wrong. We do have a large hole in our dining room ceiling which we don't want to fix until we know the cause of the leak. They did fix a running toilet (at extra cost) but we feel we paid a lot of money with no real resolution. They have a customer satisfaction survey on their website, but they don't respond to it. PART 2 I read the response from them and that is not exactly what happened. The plumber that came here said he was not sure what caused the leak but did suggest recaulking the tub. He said if that was not the problem he would come back again to see. Secondly, I did get a phone call from the company after I posted my original review and they said that somebody else would call me back in a day or two as they were on vacation. I did not receive a phone call. I can see by the reviews that other people have had a positive experience with Mr Rooter. I would have to say that mine was lacking.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Vicky, we came out and inspected your problem. You did have water coming through the ceiling. In order to diagnose the problem correctly, our technician put dye in your toilet on the second floor, which was above the leaky ceiling. No coloured water appeared. He ran water in all your fixtures in that bathroom as well, with no evidence of water leaking through. Our technician then cut a larger hole in the ceiling to inspect where the water was coming from. He noticed the water stains on the wooden joists trailing from another bathroom on the second floor; which was on the other side of the house. He inspected it and told you that the water was leaking from where the shower door rested on the bathtub. Water leaked from there, through the floor and followed the joist to the dining room ceiling. He advised that it had to be re-siliconed in order to prevent any further leaks.

    drain back up

Our basement drain backed up into the house. Mr. Rooter and Brian were at our house a couple hours later diagnosed the tree roots growing into the drain .they put a new drain in the next day. All professionally done and explained. Several phone calls to my work explained to me exactly what was happening. They even helped us claim the City of Toronto drain rebate money. Thanks Mr. Rooter.
