Just had a great experience with Mr Rooter and Brian M!
One of the pipes on our water heater sprang a leak. Because of the position of that leak, the company from which we rent the heater was not liable for the repair. They offered to coordinate an appointment with their recommended plumber, but this plumber would not be able to fix the leak until four days later. It was late in the evening, my daughter was asleep, my husband was out and I just wanted the leak fixed. I couldn't replace the copper piping myself and didn't want to shut off the water (not even the hot water) for the rest of the week.
Mr Rooter's phone agent was very sympathetic and helpful. She explained the cost of the emergency service to me, which I appreciated, and gave me the opportunity to accept or decline. (The cost was similar to that offered by my water heater rental company's plumber.) I accepted the terms and within minutes the dispatch office called me to set up the appointment.
Brian arrived within an hour. Because of the time of night, he knocked on the door instead of ringing the doorbell, which was very considerate. Brian was courteous and prepared, helping me understand what was happening with the pipes and even the state of the heater itself. I'm no plumbing expert but not once did Brian make me feel stupid. He didn't condescend or suggest my husband should be present. What's more, he encouraged me to watch what he was doing, which was both educational and reassuring.
An hour later, the leak was fixed, the pipe was replaced and Brian had even left a little Mr Rooter figurine for my daughter. I also appreciate Mr Rooter's electronic records-keeping -- I was able to pay securely and receive an electronic receipt via email. Even better, if I call Mr Rooter in the future, they will have in my file a detailed log of the work done, complete with a digital photo.
