    Clear sink drain

    Great experience with Brian MacDonald as my technician. He was super pleasant and helpful and got the job done quickly! I was very happy with how easy this whole transaction was.

    replacing and fixing shower faucets

    Mr Rooter was on time and very professional. He explained some things that we were not aware of being a home owner. I thought they were very helpful and considerate

    leak

    Mike called me back at 10:45 pm Sunday to remind me that I have a shut off valve. By 10 am the house was improved. The dishwasher removal some yrs ago left a pipe with an aging valve which developed a significant leak. In retrospect, it was minor--but once Mike called, all was under control. All the guys at Mr Rooter have been great!

    Plumbing - Clearing shower drain

    Had another great service experience from Mr. Rooter, this time from Stephen. He was very polite, knowledgeable, and he finished the job quickly. He also reminded me that a benefit of my membership was a free annual check-up, which he completed immediately. Good thing too, as he identified some issues that needed care in the very near future. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter, as I've consistently experienced top-notch service.

    Basement Drain System

    Our original clay pipes were cracked and disintegrating. We searched 3 companies. Travis Magee from Mr. Rooter was prompt, professional, honest, direct and open with us. This was the deciding factor. He and his team (Slavic) were punctual and got right to work. Despite the 90 degree heat, the job was completed on time. They did outstanding work. The trenchless part of the project was also done well. Manus and Gerald did a great job and explained everything to us. They showed the completed project on camera. We are very pleased with the whole project. Travis was good to follow-up daily and again when the project was complete. Thank you team Mr. Rooter

    Plumbing

    Just had a great experience with Mr Rooter and Brian M! One of the pipes on our water heater sprang a leak. Because of the position of that leak, the company from which we rent the heater was not liable for the repair. They offered to coordinate an appointment with their recommended plumber, but this plumber would not be able to fix the leak until four days later. It was late in the evening, my daughter was asleep, my husband was out and I just wanted the leak fixed. I couldn't replace the copper piping myself and didn't want to shut off the water (not even the hot water) for the rest of the week. Mr Rooter's phone agent was very sympathetic and helpful. She explained the cost of the emergency service to me, which I appreciated, and gave me the opportunity to accept or decline. (The cost was similar to that offered by my water heater rental company's plumber.) I accepted the terms and within minutes the dispatch office called me to set up the appointment. Brian arrived within an hour. Because of the time of night, he knocked on the door instead of ringing the doorbell, which was very considerate. Brian was courteous and prepared, helping me understand what was happening with the pipes and even the state of the heater itself. I'm no plumbing expert but not once did Brian make me feel stupid. He didn't condescend or suggest my husband should be present. What's more, he encouraged me to watch what he was doing, which was both educational and reassuring. An hour later, the leak was fixed, the pipe was replaced and Brian had even left a little Mr Rooter figurine for my daughter. I also appreciate Mr Rooter's electronic records-keeping -- I was able to pay securely and receive an electronic receipt via email. Even better, if I call Mr Rooter in the future, they will have in my file a detailed log of the work done, complete with a digital photo. Thanks, Mr Rooter and Brian M!

    backed up sinks

    We had a backup into our kitchen sinks. Robert Plantic did a wonderful job of fixing the problem in a timely manner and cleaned up completely after. He was pleasant and professional. I would recommend him to anyone.

    Replace two inside shutoff valves

    The good and the bad.... To begin with, the job was to replace two inside shutoff valves which I supplied. I had these two valves replaced 5 years ago and unfortunately I replaced them with the old washer style valves rather than a quality 1/4 turn ball valve... my bad, but I was also in a bind and had no choice. On a positive note, they were courteous and very professional beginning with the person I spoke to on the phone when requesting the service as well as the service technician. They did not leave any dirt behind and were very careful to not damage anything while bringing in the tools. They called prior to arriving to inform me they would be on-site very soon; actually called early to see if it was acceptable to come early as they had a cancellation, which was great. After the technician left I received a call from Mr. Rooters office within 3 hours as a follow up to inquire if I was satisfied with the “work” that was performed. On the negative side of things, they charged me a $15.00 Fuel Surcharge (tax not included), even though I live in North York not far from where this company is located. Remember they had a cancellation which meant they were already in my neighbourhood. Secondly they charged $145.00 per valve to replace them for a total of $290.00 before taxes. Remember I supplied the valves! From the time they arrived to the time they left my house was in the order of 90 minutes. Total cost including taxes was $344.65 In 2010 I replaced these same two valves (exact same work) and also replaced both outside hose valves (4 valves in total) for a total cost of $156.55 including all taxes! See “Lampert Plumbing Systems Inc.” Even if one takes into account inflation over the last 5 years, I find it difficult to justify the cost to replace only two valves with Mr. Rooter. Another annoyance was that I also received an email from Mr Rooter asking me to fill in an online survey regarding if I was satisfied with the “work”, but question regarding what I thought of the value of the work they did. Remember I already spoke to someone on the phone asking me the same information. At the end of this survey they also wanted me to complete an online survey with Home Stars or Google, hence this review on HomeStars. I doubt that a small plumbing job such as this one really warrants three different survey's.... a phone call, an online survey for Mr Rooter and an additional online review! I believe that what they are missing is called “value”, quality work for a reasonable service charge.

    Leaking bathroon faucet

    Stephen Hughes came from Mr.Rooter's, he was very knowledgeable about the job. He mentioned my options that I had with the problem. I am was very happy with the results and specially that he cleaned after the job was done. Strongly recommend him,

    Plumbing

    I had an issue with the ball valve Mr. Rooter installed for my garden hose and complained about it. Mr. Rooter came by and exchanged the ball valve tap with a regular hose bib tap and now I can regulate the volume water better. Thank you very much Mr. Rooter for your quick service to remedy the problem. Again the young man who did the work was very polite, quick and efficient.
