    basement drain backflow valve

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!! If my experience in January-July 2015 with this plumbing/drain company is indicative of the service levels they provide to customers, I say stay away and deal with somebody else. The original estimate was $4000. The final bill was over $7000. I was advised by the senior crew chief (Malik)that since New Canadian installed 2 basement backflow valves, that I was entitled to a rebate from the City of Toronto of $2500 ($1250 for each valve). After applying and waiting, I received $1250 for one valve. The City’s website is clear that the maximum recovery is $1250 and City officials said that they provided New Canadian and other contractors notice of this policy months before the work was done in my basement. When I raised this with the senior crew chief I was told that the City’s policy was news to him. Of course, he did not offer to reduce the price I had already paid. The work onsite spewed fine red dust throughout our house. It took us several weeks to clean up after the crew left. While on-site in January, one of the crew inadvertently opened the valve in the basement leading to an outside tap. A few weeks later, the outside pipe burst creating another big mess. The senior crew chief came to our house in February 2015, inspected the damage and agreed it was the fault of New Canadian. He said that the company would replace the outside pipe and tap with a frost free model so that the problem would not happen again even if the valve were left open. He asked that we allow a couple of months for the company to install the frost free tap because it would be much easier to work in the spring. He agreed to contact me in April to install the frost free tap. After waiting until after May 15, I called the senior crew chief and he remembered his promise. He assured me that it would be dealt with promptly. After several reminder calls to the crew chief, he agreed to have the office send someone out. The man arrived with no frost free tap and no instructions as to what was needed. After I explained, he said he needed to go shopping for the required material and left. He never returned. Further discussions with the senior crew chief led to more promises and more missed deadlines. Finally, the senior crew chief arranged for someone to come and replace the broken pipe and a regular tap. I was not at home when the worker was here but when I saw that the promised frost free tap was not installed I spoke to the senior crew chief who was in the United States at the time. He agreed that the job was not done as promised but said that the frost free part in the necessary size was on back order with their supplier. He said that he thought it would be helpful to give us a temporary fix so that we could use the tap. He also promised that he would return to install the frost free tap soon. During the following 3 weeks, I got no answer from the senior crew chief when I called. Finally, the phone was answered by the office of New Canadian. It seems that the senior crew chief is no longer employed at New Canadian. New Canadian claims they have no record of the promises made by their former employee and that I should have been dealing with the office, not the crew chief. Anna, in the office has on at least two occasions, claimed that she would speak to “management” on my behalf and call me back on specific dates. On neither occasion did she bother to call or leave a message. It appears that the Company plans to do nothing to satisfy the senior crew chief’s promise. The Company claims it has no way to contact their former employee and offer no solutions. There is a serious problem in dealing with this company when they blame the customer for not dealing through their office. All of my dealings with this company, other than the initial call, were with the senior crew chief and I saw no reason to deal with anyone else. The very poor service means that I will never deal with this company again and I urge all of you to stay away too. Sent from Windows Mail

The experience that our office has had with you has been nothing but intimidating, aggressive and rude filled with threats on your end. Our company did work for you in January 2015 and upon completion of the work, we did not hear back from you until May 2015 when you accused our team of damaging your outside tap. We spoke with our team and they stated that they never touched your hose bib. Even though it was no fault of ours as we worked close to but not on that area of your property, we still sent a plumber back to your site to remove your old hose bib and replace it with the exact same but new hose bib as you originally had, free of charge and to your wife’s satisfaction that was on site. After over a month, you contacted our office saying that you wanted a frost-free hose bib and that it was promised to you. Our secretary looked in our system and found no record of a frost-free hose bib having to be installed on your property. All our company representatives always document in writing, on a company contract, if they need to return to a site to provide future outstanding work. When she asked you if you had anything in writing, you became very rude saying that she should just take your word for it. She explained to you that she would look into the matter further and call you back. You contacted our office a week later and spoke with our other secretary who attempted to assist you as the original secretary you spoke with was busy with other office duties and you were rude to her as well refusing to allow her to assist you and demanding to speak with only the first secretary. On the second occasion when she spoke with you, she once again, explained to you that our files showed that we installed a hose bib for you in May 2015 and that there was no record of any outstanding work to be done. We informed you that, if you wanted a frost-free hose bib, than we would be able to install it for you but that there would be a charge for the service. Again, you became rude and aggressive speaking to her in a belittling manner telling her that you did not care how she got this matter resolved for you but that is was her responsibility to have the frost-free hose bib installed for you or else you would ruin our company reputation with bad reviews. You were very intimidating and hostile with your threats so she informed you that she would speak with management once again. You asked her when she would call you back and she said to you that if you did not hear from her by the end of the week, as she is busy with her office duties, to contact her on the following Monday. She never heard back from you until you sent this email addressing it directly to her reaffirming your threats and blackmail by titling your email as “Bad Review Prepared” in your subject line. She attempted to contact you to resolve this issue but could not get in touch with you. When you returned her call at 4:55 pm on July 23, 2015, her work shift was already over and she had left the office already so the other secretary asked if she could assist you with anything and you smirked and sharply told her No and for the other secretary to try again to get a hold of you (note that this is the same secretary that tried to address your concerns prior and you were rude to her). She felt intimidated by you and quickly contacted the original secretary that you spoke with on her personal phone to inform her that there was an aggressive customer wanting to speak with only her. In an attempt to resolve this situation once and for all, she took it upon herself to use her personal time to speak with you. She called our office and asked the secretary to connect her with you at 6:35 pm in which she did and she heard your entire conversation and the hostile manner in which you spoke to our secretary. As she tried to speak with you, you kept interrupting her and asking her if the frost-free hose bib was worth you ruining our Company name on social media. You blackmailed her by telling her that she had until the end of this week to have the work done or else you would release the bad review. She also reminded you that she did not ignore you regarding this situation because she did speak with you on two occasions prior. Again, you continued to interrupt her while she tried to speak and she brought to your attention that you were being very rude while speaking to her which you just brushed off and ignored. We are glad that the other office secretary heard how you were speaking and she was shocked and appalled by your tone and rude and aggressive manner towards our staff member. Our secretary is a woman, a mother of three small children, who took the time out of her personal life to try to speak with you in a civil manner to resolve this situation and to be spoken to in such an aggressive and belittling manner as you have shown her is absolutely uncalled for. NOBODY has ever spoken to her in that kind of manner and has made her feel as small in her life as you have. Our secretary, as a representative of New Canadian Drain & Plumbing, has tried on many occasions to rectify this situation with you. You have fabricated a lie about extra work being promised to you and you have nothing in writing, yet we are still trying in our efforts to make you a satisfied customer of ours. Your threats and blackmailing against our company and the way you speak with our office staff only reflects your character and we are no longer interested in speaking with you. New Canadian Drain & Plumbing is an honest company and our customers will continue to see the truth through the exceptional services that we deliver regardless of your malicious threats and attempts at tarnishing our good name.

    Bathroom Plumbing

I recently moved into my new apartment and when my shower started leaking, New Canadian Drain & Plumbing was recommended to me by a family friend. The secretary that I spoke with over the phone was very polite and helpful and told me that she was able to send a plumbing technician to me within half an hour. I agreed to set up the appointment and sure enough, the plumber came on time and diagnosed my problem as being an issue with the shower cartridge. He changed the cartridge for me and kept my floors and the work area clean and my shower has not leaked a day ever since. I received a great service from this company and I will definitely use them again.

    kitchen faucet

I have used this company many times before and decided to use their services again when it came to replacing my kitchen faucet. I wanted to upgrade my kitchen faucet but I was not sure which model I should go with. New Canadian Drain & Plumbing dispatched a plumber to my home and the plumber showed me all the different types of faucets that he carried in stock in his vehicle. He took his time to explain the different types of faucets to me and answered all my questions. When I finally made my decision to go with the faucet with the pull-out spray hose, he immediately got to work removing my old kitchen faucet and installing the new one. I love the customer service level of this company and I am always satisfied with their workmanship time and time again. I have already recommended this wonderful company to my friends, family and co-workers and will continue to do so. Great Company!

    Prefer not to say

New Canadian Drain is terrible! Owner is a bully, and they do not stand behind their work and blame the customer. I would love to give details about my situation, but am afraid of retribution. Just stay away.

    Plumbing emergency

Sunday morning and the drain pipe in the bathroom fell away from the main connection in the wall. I contacted New Canadian Drain and they had a rep over within the hour. Siavash assessed the situation , and provided a fair quote for the job. He was very professional , polite and thorough. The work was completed in about 2 hours. I will not hesitate to contact New Canadian in the future should a plumbing situation arise. And I would request that Siavash be the plumber they send. A very good company. I recommend New Canadian highly!!!

Main Drain Replacement to City Connection

We called New Canadian Drain & Plumbing Ltd just after midnight on a Friday following a sewage backup in our basement after torrential rains. First thing Saturday morning, Shendon plus a crew of two plumbing heroes arrived on site. Shendon removed our basement toilet and by using a snake with the video, was quickly able to identify the problem as a collapsed main clay pipe just outside our front. Within the hour, the crew was digging up to get to the problem. They were very respectful of out front lawn and landscaping and laid a tarp down to contain the work. After digging through 7 feet of sand (most of East York is) they determined that it would be in our best interest to replace not only the affected pipe area but complete a full replacement of our old 1928 clay pipes to the main city connection. Although this cost us more than the original quote, this extended pipe replacement would remove our liability down the road if any sewage issues should arise between the city connection and the newly installed sewer backflow preventor. They replaced the clay piping with PVC and installed the sewer backflow valve which allows us to apply for a city rebate of up to $1250. They even arranged for a city inspector to review the valve and got the necessary permit and paperwork for us to complete. Unfortunately there was more rain on the way so the job took a few extra days to be put back to the way it was but we are very happy with the service and professionalism we received and would certainly recommend them to anyone if they are ever in such an unfortunate situation as a sewer crisis!

    Install Sink & Faucet

Part of a huge horror story created by a "general contractor" who had his head firmly planted you know where. We needed the "installation" corrected and completed so we could list our home for sale and we were very quickly running out of time. I called New Canadians because there's always a truck in the neighbourhood - they sent me help that arrived after I was done work - and he arrived 15 minutes earlier than expected. Booties on without me asking, very tidy and clean. An amazing change after last week when everything was a mess and filthy. I'm glad I was able to give him a chuckle as he reviewed the work done by the "contractor" - not a clue about how to install a sink - or faucet. He took it out, properly attached the faucet and soap dispenser and had it all done - except, the "contractor", in his crazy mess of mixed up electrical, plumbing and whatever had lost or thrown out one tiny piece that we needed for the Italian-made faucet. No way to get that part at 8 pm! That was all she wrote... or was it? How many professional tradesmen/women will wait around for you to find the item needing installation? Time is money, after all - and if they're not working during that time, they're not doing anything to make money. I came back from the hardware store with a COMPLETE faucet this time - all installed and working beautifully by 10 pm. I'm not saying that this was some unbelievable bargain - and it shouldn't be! These are professional, licensed trades and you get what you pay for - in this case, fast response, polite, clean, kind, generous - and with an understanding of what it's like to be stuck between a rock and a hard place and still didn't gouge me. New Canadians is now my go-to for all my plumbing from now on. And again, I know that perfect scores make people wonder - but you have to understand that I was beside myself with worry about how I was going to get everything done. By calling in professionals (which I should have done from the beginning), I was able to sleep better knowing that every thing that was done was done right. That peace of mind makes me want to score them even higher, but the ten will have to do.

Called the company first thing in the morning and were there in an hour. Great, reliable service. Peter did a fabolous job clearing my drain and it wasn't an easy job. He was polite, honest and professional. Would use this company again without a question.
