    Drain Back Up

We just moved into our new house and realized that there was a problem with the basement drain backing up. We quickly called NCDP who dispatched Iman to our home right away. Iman was very patient in explaining what our issue was and the options that we had. When we agreed to replace a section of our drain, Iman and his team wasted no time in getting the work done so that we were able to resume our daily routine. This is the second time my family has used New Canadian Drain and Plumbing and we are so amazed by the quality of work and customer service that we receive time and time again.

    Fixing Leaking Toilet

I had a leaking toilet on my main floor. I called New Canadian Drain & Plumbing on July 5th 2014 in the morning and a plumber was sent to my home efficiently on the same day. The guy told me that the problem is with the gasket and he replaced the gasket and tested the connections. Everything worked fine till August 2nd 2014 when the leak re-appeared at exactly the same place. On calling the company again they simply said that sorry we don't supply gaskets so we can not do anything about it. However the confusion was removed when I got a call from their head office sorting the issue out. Thanks for the service and prompt response.

    plumbing

Fantastic work! We were 4 months into our new home when we discovered a drain snake hidden in our crawl space. Soon after, water started backing up in our basement drain-clearly the previous owners were aware of this and did not disclose. We called Canadian Drain and they were at our house within the hour. Isaac was an absolute professional-used a camera snake to identify the problem, located the exact spot where the trap was and clearly explained the work that needed to be done (a $2400 job). The crew (Yuri, Ivan and another young man whose name I did not get) started the very next day. A few hours into their work, they discovered it was a much larger plumbing job than originally intended (the pipes were butchered-a previous owner had cut holes in the clay pipes and installed the basement kitchen and laundry plumbing through these rough openings, thereby compromising all the plumbing). Again, Isaac was very patient and explained exactly what work needed to be done given the new circumstances. He also understood how stressful this was as we had just bought our house and did his best to alleviate the stress. A 1 day job turned into a 4 day job with the crew replacing the clay pipes and plumbing stack, and properly installing the kitchen and laundry sinks etc. This included tearing up concrete and digging 8 feet down. The crew arrived early, worked hard, and took especial care to minimize the damage to our basement kitchen which we had just had installed (they ended up only having to cut out a hole in the cabinet housing the sink). Yuri also made a point of regularly showing me the work in progress so that I could understand just what a mess the plumbing was. They also cleaned up each day and made sure all holes were cemented before the next rainfall. Everyone we dealt with was professional and very respectful. To top it off, Isaac took a look at all of our other plumbing just so we could have piece of mind. He ended up replacing the plumbing in both our bathrooms (at no additional charge) which our handyman had poorly installed. Isaac did not expect final payment till all the work on their end was complete-this included making sure we had our rebate paperwork (for backup sewage valve) in our hands. I highly recommend these guys-they know their stuff!

    Clogged kitchen drain

My impression of New Canadian Drain & Plumbing is partly good and bad. The good is that I was impressed how quickly they responded to my call (they were at the premises within 6 hours of my call) and did a good job of unclogging the drain (has been fine since they fixed it last year). However, the bad was that I felt like I had been ripped off by the service guy. In my attempt to fix the drain myself, I had taken off the pipes and did not fit it back on properly so it was leaking. When the service guy saw this, he proclaimed that I screwed it up bad and he could fix it for me for an additional $50. Given that I was desperate and believed him, I agreed. He then proceeded to put some plumbers tape on the thread and screwed it back on in 30 seconds which was his '$50 fix'. I was shocked. In my experience, something as simple and quick as that would usually be a courtesy fix (or at least a very minor charge of $5-10) for most contractors, especially considering how much I was already spending with them for the job. I felt like this particular service guy took full advantage of my ignorance and fear which has left a very bad taste in my mouth. So in short, although they do a good job with response time and the actual fix, I would not use them again due to serious concerns about their ethics and integrity.

Hi Eric, as you stated and acknowledged in your review, when you contacted our company with your plumbing issue, our office promptly dispatched a plumber to your site who did an efficient job in unclogging your drain and resolving your plumbing issue. Being that there are no complaints about our workmanship other than the fact that you decided to wait 9 months later to express your dissatisfaction of the cost to repair the leak under the sink, we do not deserve a rating of 2 on Homestars. Our company is very reputable and you are always welcome to contact New Canadian Drain & Plumbing if you have a change of heart.

    complete water stack replacement

The third night into my new home, I had a flooded basement and the realization that my old cast iron water stack had a crack that ran along three stories. I called New Canadian and they sent someone out immediately to access the situation and to provide me with a quote to fix. The staff were friendly, prompt and efficient and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. Senior staff did a great job ensuring that everything was done to my satisfaction.

    Basement Drain

I had an issue with constantly running water in my basement drain and happened to call New Canadian after hearing radio ads previously and recognizing the company name on the internet. I could not have been happier with my dealings with them. They made an appointment for the same day (even though it wasn't an emergency) which was great. They were slightly late showing up, only 15 or 20 min, but the lady I spoke with to book the appointment had the courtesy to call me and let me know, and to check if I was still available. Sometimes things don't go according to schedule, and I'm perfectly happy as long as the company communicates that with you. Anyway the gentleman that showed up was named Malik. Phenomenal guy. Knew what the issue was right away, took the time to explain things thoroughly, really polite, laid out at least 2 or 3 different options as to how to best tackle the problem, and also pointed out a few things that might be trouble in the future with some old plumbing work done about 20-30 years ago. He also was more than happy to answer a few other questions we had that were unrelated. He left his business card and offered to answer questions if anything else came up. I will certainly call New Canadian back next time I have an issue.

Back Flow and Removal of Lead Pipe

We were finishing our basement and thought it would be a good time to install a back flow valve. We called and they were out the next day to give us a quote. They were really quick and professional. When the back flow valve was being replaced, they let us know that the main water pipe was lead. There was no pressure to get this done, just letting us know and we went ahead and got them to remove it at the same time. All the guys were professional and everything was completed in a quick and very clean manner. I would recommend this company to others!

    Collapsed Drain

Sheldon came out to the job site and had tremendous difficulty finding a place to get his camera into the plumbing system. Through no fault of his own there were some crazy connections that kept sending his camera in the wrong directions. After spending 4 hours he finally was able to determine that I had a collapsed drain pipe. Cost for the camera inspection was only $180 + tax! Then he quoted $3200 + tax for repairing the drain pipe. He was hesitant on his pricing but stuck to his original number. His fear was how deep they might have to dig to get to the drain pipe because the house and front yard are 4 -5 feet above street level. His worse nightmare came true. Not only was the drain pipe about twice as deep as he had hoped, the earth was saturated with months' worth of sewage waste and snow melt that kept flooding the trench they dug, and they also had to dig around a new gas line, and old gas line and a water main into the house! The acrobatics of his team members (Hassan I believe) was nothing short of a Cirque du Soleil performance. And because of this unusual and unpredictable situation, what should have been a 1 day job turned into a 3 day job. Igor also attended the job site all three days and did not leave until the new drain was reconnected and met his his high standard for perfection. Throughout this ordeal, the New Canadian Drain team worked under grueling conditions and never gave up. Nor did they ask me for any more money than what was in their original quote. For that reason I was able to recommend them 2 days later to a friend which landed them an $11k project. I will continue to recommend them to anybody who needs any type of plumbing work done.

    Soil Stack Replacement

We needed to replace the soil stack in our 100 year old home. Of the 4 plumbers we had over to quote, only Malik at New Canadians seemed interested enough to follow up with us. And I'm glad he did. He started the day he said he would, accommodated our schedules, found a way to bury the stack behind the wall when we thought it couldn't be done and stayed quite late to make sure we had plumbing over night. He and Vassan, his assistant on the job, were diligent, careful, left the place clean and followed up on all the little details we asked for. I can't say enough how impressed I was with them.
