    Drain and Plumbing Work

We hired New Canadian Drain and Plumbing for a second time to move a floor drain, install a backflow preventer and a bunch of other misc plumbing work. Their price was more then reasonable and they completed all the work in a day. As always they are very professional and left the work area’s clean. I hire New Canadian for all my plumbing work.

    backed up toilet

I called New Drain and plumbing a few weeks ago because my toilet was backing up in the 2nd floor washroom. Thomas, the plumber came to my house, quickly diagnosed the problem and got straight to work to fix the plumbing issue. In no time, he had my toilet working like new again and he kept the work area clean making sure he had shoe covers on at all times. I am. very satisfied with this company and I give them two thumbs up for a job well done!

Clogged main drain causing sewage back up

After calling New Canadian Drain and Plumbing on a Sunday morning Jocelyn arrived at our house within an hour. Our main drain was clogged causing sewage to back up into the house and also flooding our basement. He very efficiently identified the issued and cleared the clog. He explained there was a tree root blocking our drainage pipe to the sewer and our various options to resolve the issue. We would definitely call Jocelyn again for any future plumbing needs.

clogged kitchen sink, sagging drain pipe in basement

I had a similar situation 10 years ago with a clogged kitchen sink and a disaster with the previous plumber so I was quite nervous about trying this company. I called in the morning and was offered a time slot several hours later! The plumber, Ryan Goodman, arrived exactly on time and ready to tackle the problem at hand. Within an hour or so the job was completed. Ryan worked with the existing drain pipe which he felt to be quite solid but only requiring it to be raised for proper drainage. It is a relief to find a company as large as this one that sends out a technician such as Ryan who is knowledgeable and experienced. BRAVO!

    Clogged main draing

Our main drain became clogged. Jocelyn came in and provided us with a competitive quote. I was impressed with the time that he spent, and how reassuring he was. Sure enough, the job was done on time with no complications. The crew was great. Thanks Jocelyn for an amazing job. Would definately work with them again.

    Bathtub Drain

With four women living in my household, I knew that there would come a day when our shedding hair would do some damage to our shower drain… that day came on a Sunday morning. I called New Canadian Drain/Plumbing and they sent a plumber out within half an hour, and there was no extra cost for weekends! The plumber was very experience and quickly unclogged the drain which gave us time to still make it to Church. I am very pleased with the service that I received from New Canadian Drain and Plumbing and I know that I will use them again for all of my plumbing needs.

Installation of Ball Valves and Repair to Leaking Kitchen Drain

After researching Homestars, I decided to go with New Canadian Drain and Plumbing. In October 2010, I needed to replace a seized shut-off water valve for an outside tape. Khem was sent to complete the work. Due to weather conditions, Khem was 2 hrs late but their customer service kept me informed at regular intervals of his expected arrival time. A 90 degree ball valve was installed to replace the seized valve and while completing this work, we also asked him to install a second 90 degree ball valve located after the main line water shut off valve since it was very difficult to access behind the furnace. Although we felt that the job cost more than it should ($400.00), the quality of work was excellent and Khem ensured that there were no leaks and cleaned to work area thoroughly. In January 2011, I found a leak from my kitchen sink the hard way...it leaked into my basement ceiling requiring replacement of the drywall. I called New Canadian Drain again and asked specifically for Khem. He arrived at the time specified, made the necessary repairs to the kitchen drain and also added extra support to the plumbing/drain lines in the basement to ensure that the issue would not occur again. Khem tested the sink and lines repeatedly to ensure there were no leaks and thoroughly cleaned the work area. Another quality job at a cost of $250.00. For any future plumbing emergencies or plumbing projects, I will continue to use New Canadian Drain and Plumbing.

Remove Mixer Valve from Water Heater Tank

We have had wonderful experiences with the Homestars.com providers we've engaged the past so when our water heater mixer valve failed, we expected that a top rated provider like this company would provide a similar experience. We called on a Saturday and the person on the phone said it could be fixed the same day (good) and called ahead of when the plumber was to show up and asked if it was okay if they came earlier (also good). The job was to remove the mixer valve which was basically cutting it out of the water connection and capping both ends. We were quoted $320 for this and because we were without hot water for days at that point, I accepted. Apparently we were charged an additional $120 ($200+$120) because the water tank was positioned such that he would have to squeeze between the furnace and the tank in order to get behind it to do the job. The plumber was there for 1 hour and 42 minutes from arrival to departure. As an hourly rate, this seemed excessive. But when I called the office they said they quoted by the job rather than the hour. Fine. In short, I shouldn't have assumed all Homestars highly rated providers are charging reasonable (when considered by the hour) rates. And I should have asked the person on the phone first what this would cost. My low rating for this provider has to do with 1. the $120 surcharge for the position of the tank and 2. the buyer's remorse feeling of being ripped off. There's a 1 year warranty on the work so that's fine. But cutting and capping a couple of pipes for $320? Well, that just leaves a bad taste...

    Fix plumbing vent

We had an issue with another plumber messing up a job for us and venting our plumbing to nowhere. We were then stalled on a bathroom reno. We called New Canadian Plumbing and Ryan came out that afternoon and took a look. He came back the next morning and quickly fixed the mistakes that the other plumber had made. He was kind, polite and quick. He cleaned up after himself. A pleasure to have in our home.
