I contacted Allmax Home Inspection by email for a pre-sale inspection of my (approx.) 1000 sq ft condo on a Tuesday. I was impressed with the speedy response time to my original email, which was within a minute or so of me hitting “send”. Alan returned my call and sounded very professional on the phone and he promptly arranged for a Thursday inspection which he indicated would last about 1 hour.
Alan was a little late for our appointment but he sent me a text advising of this a few minutes before our appointment. The inspection lasted 30 minutes during which time Alan took 4 or 5 phone calls. I personally didn’t feel he was focused on my inspection as much as he was on his repeated phone calls. A 30 minute inspection, while taking multiple calls did not give me a strong sense of assurance that his inspection was thorough or his main priority. Or maybe he was a good multi-tasker.
At the end of the inspection, I paid Alan and he indicated I would have the inspection report emailed to me the next day. When I didn’t receive the inspection report as promised on Friday, I contacted Alan on Saturday morning asking about the status. He replied that it would arrive later that day. I ultimately received the inspection report early Sunday morning. I would have preferred he would have been more accurate on his promised turnaround time.
While I am not an expert in this field, the actual inspection report was 29 pages long and appeared templated with a few mentions of my actual property - but was otherwise acceptable.
In my final comments, I would say that his overall inspection was adequate. While he might have several potential customers calling him during his inspections, I believe that he could better serve his actual clients by focusing on their property during the live inspections and save the multiple phone calls for later. Lastly, integrity is important to me, so I would suggest that Allmax not promise clients a 1 day turnaround on an inspection report if it takes 3 days to complete.
