This story begins a year ago, when I had 3 windows replaced by Ecotech. I opted for the "brick to brick" window replacement, as well as an inspection of the wood framing around the windows, as I thought that there may have been some water penetration.
I also requested that the sheet metal trim around the windows be replaced.
So, the week of Nov 15 2020 an installer came out to do the work. Things progressed well, the installer was working very quickly. I asked why he was so fast, he told me that my job wasn't that big, and that it was to be done in half a day. He had a second install scheduled later the same day.
I asked him to check for rotten wood, he said that it was all good, great shape. when it came time for the metal trim around the windows, he told me that he wasn't going to replace it, he would use the old sheet metal.
The new window was very slightly smaller than the old window, so there was a larger gap. This was filled in with a very wide bead of caulk. It looked horrible. As soon as the guy left, I called Ecotech to send out the sales person I'd been dealing with. He showed up, and agreed that it looked like crap. He told me to put in a service request to get it fixed up.
So I put in a service request. They are too busy to send someone. And its getting too cold. They will fix it in the new year (2021) they said. I'm dealing with the service manager, he seems like a good guy.
February 2021, I message them, they have not forgotten me, he will get right back to me on a service date. March 2021, I call them, they have not forgotten me, they will call me right back, they promise April for sure.
I hound them again, they give me April 26. On April 26 a guy shows up. He tells me that the wood rot around my window is too bad. He also tells me that he forgot to bring the sheet metal to use around the windows.
I call the service manager. I tell him that I will pay extra to get the rotten wood replaced, and the new trim on. He agrees on this. He will get right back to me with a quote.
Crickets from Ecotech. I call them repeatedly, finally get the service manager on 10 July 2021. The service manager is no longer with the company, they have someone new now, a female. I tell my story. She will get right back to me she says.
I try repeatedly to get her, she responds on Aug 31. She will get right back to me, a day or 2 at the most. I call repeatedly, finally get to her Sep 18. She is struggling to understand the nature of my issue. She will get right back to me early next week.
And they never contacted me again. This is now my one year anniversary of my window install. Needless to say, I won't be dealing with them any further. I was very surprised how a company with so many positive reviews could do such a poor job.
