Unacceptable customer service, poor installation quality, window build quality lower than expected, and unreliable quoted lead times.
Our sales rep was quick to respond to our initial request in July for a consultation, very cheerful and friendly, and set our order up quick and easy. As soon as he left, things went south immediately. Little to no email response as we fine-tuned the details of the order, quote was weeks late getting to us, and the lead time estimates were ridiculously off. Our re-measure tech arrived (weeks later than expected) and told us we were good to go after taking his measurements. 2 months later (roughly when we expected the window installation) we find out nothing has actually been ordered and in fact the patio door isn't possible to install for technical reasons. Nordik then recommended a foundation guy to address the technical issue; his quote came in more than doubling our $10k window/door order, and we cancelled the patio door. We've since discovered the technical issue they cited wasn't actually true and in September requested either a sales rep or a more experienced re-measure tech come back to look over the situation - after our sales rep failed to answer our calls and emails for several weeks, I called head office and was told we'd get a visit asap. As of November 27 we still haven't heard back from our rep or head office, so we're now looking elsewhere for patio doors.
Meanwhile, the 2 windows were a simple installation that took roughly a day (several months later than promised). Installers were friendly and easy-going. One window was a straight swap with the old window, the other involved a 12" horizontal cut in a framed wall with a small amount of framing. The framing was completely unacceptable (ie. no header or sill was installed and machine screws were used throughout), and one of the windows wasn't installed level or plumb. The window jamb framing has large gaps at the seams and the exposed pieces overlap each other rather than fit with 45deg mitres as I'd expect. One window was installed in the shower, and is completely unsuitable for a wet location - I have had to tile and caulk in creative ways to (hopefully) waterproof it. Overall they look and feel quite cheap, and I'm really not a picky person.
It's Nov 27. We still have no idea what the status is of the front door we paid for in July.
The extreme delay has paused or cancelled other dependent projects, and the lack of customer service has made it all the more frustrating to handle. We will not return to Nordik, nor recommend them to anyone.
