We moved into a new house just recently and I figured that since the furnace was around 9 years old that it would be wise to have someone come in for a tune-up. I chose AtlasCare because they were recommended by someone on a forum.
I had to call them twice before I could book an appointment because I was told someone would call me to arrange a visit but no one called, so I had to follow up. However they were all very polite and helpful on the phone.
Dag came on time for the tune-up and was very helpful. He listened and responded to the concerns that I had (low humidity), explained how things worked and showed me things he noticed in the furnace room. We couldn't however proceed with the tune-up because he round a leak in my secondary heat exchanger and had to red tag my furnace. He explained to me that my options were either replacing the heat exchanger or to get a new furnace and that someone could come the same day to give me a consultation on a new furnace.
Since our furnace did look pretty rusty and was old we decided to go for a new furnace. Dave came right at the scheduled time and helped us through the process of choosing a new furnace. They only gave us 2 options from one brand (York), 2-stage or modulating. He did mention that they carried other brands but those weren't listed during the pricing (we didn't ask either). We were lucky enough to be able to have the new furnace installed the next day.
The installation was quick, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. They made sure to line the floor and left minimal mess given the amount of work done. Although they didn't really try to walk me through what they were doing and did so when I asked.
I would give a 7/10 for the installation. 9/10 for the furnace and humidifier (unless it breaks down.. upon which I will adjust the score), and a 5/10 for the thermostat.
We purchased an Ecobee3 from AtlasCare for its smart features, however the installation that was done did not live up to AtlasCare's reputation. My lilbee (secondary seonsor) was placed upside down, and my two-stage furnace was configured as a 1-stage furnace, also my humidifier was not connected. Given the fact that we were charged a $150 installation fee (what we paid above retail) for the Ecobee3, I expected a more complete installation.
I did reach out to Dave regarding my concerns, and although his initial response was that my requests could not be done, upon my insisting and explaining that it is stated in the installation guide that it can be done, he did ask the office to look into the problem. Soon after I received a phone call from the technical department saying they looked into my request and may be able to have it configured properly with a third party component. They put in an order for it and will schedule a visit for installation once it arrives.
I will provide an update regarding the Ecobee3 once they come back to fix it.
I am very appreciative of their customer service as everything went smoothly with the furnace and humidifier. All the individuals that I have spoken with are very helpful. There was a little hiccup with the thermostat installation which could have been done better, but I am glad they took my request seriously and have taken a look into the issue instead of trying to brush off the issue.
Update (29/02/2016):
They came and got my Ecobee3 hooked up for both stages on my furnace and also managed to connect the humidifier to the Ecobee3! They accomplished all this even though I only had 4 wires running up to the thermostat. I am very impressed by their customer service and their willingness to research and look in to the matter in order to provide their customers with more options. Thank you AtlasCare!
