The windows have weathered well but I noticed that the plastic cross-hatching in the south facing windows has turned brown. What can be done?Review from Customer of Clera Windows + Doors Customer of Clera Windows + Doors

The company contacted me and offered to replace the glass at cost. I appreciated them reaching out and working with me to find a solution. I have revised my original review of "0" to 8/10. They lost one star because I still had to pay for the glass (glass is supplied by another company), although I appreciate that it was at cost and understand they have to pay their supplier. I also appreciate their candor in providing me with a statement from the supplier that this was an issue with the glass (sometimes tempered glass shatters due to the tension on one side being greater than the other). They lost another star because initially the local manager went on my property without notice or permission, took picture of the bottom of a door and said the problem in the glass (above) was a result of dirt in the bottom doorway (the photo wasn't even taken of the door at issue). However, I appreciate the folks at head office stepping in - one individual does not make a company. ****** I choose this company 8 years ago based in part off the good reviews they received and their "lifetime warranty". I hope this review is helpful to someone evaluating their long term service. Eight years ago I had some new windows and doors installed in my house. I had no complaints about the installation; however, when I called to have a window serviced four years later, I found them unresponsive (however as it was not a defect of the manufacturing or install, I didn't pursue the matter with them). Last week the glass door that they had installed shattered completely. It was not hit nor was the door slammed. Apparently spontaneous shattering of glass is a "thing" usually caused by defective manufacture or installation (see Wikipedia for more information). I called the company expecting that they would take care of this right away; however they refused to honour the warranty nor repair what was clearly a defective product. I would strongly suggest you consider another company for your door and window needs. They do not stand behind their products.Answer from pro:
Dear Lisa, We understand your frustration and apologize for any inconvenience. There is no company that would cover broken glass on a front door after 8 years of usage. Any defective glass will not last 8 years as per our glass supplier, it will break with in a year of usage. Our Management has spoken to you and have offered to replace the glass at our cost price and waive the labour charges. We believe we have offered more than fair resolution and waiting to hear back from you. Thank you - Clera Admin

I had done some prior shopping around, so when we were ready to finally to purchase I only had Clera in mind. They are professional and easy to deal with. Dennis knows his stuff and helped us find our best value for what we had in mind. I'd like to give 10 stars, and I am 100% purchasing more windows from Clera....but, this is also a 100% honest review for fellow homeowners. The 1 and only constructive criticism I would point out is the caulking on the outside could be better. I've had windows recaulked in the past by Gold Seal and the final product is night and day. Perhaps they have better equipment/technique. I think if Clera could improve on that I would rate 11 stars.Answer from pro:
We love to read happy review on the HomeStars site, Mark. Thank you for your valued input!

John and Greg Gainham stopped by to quote and talk about replacing the windows at the front of our house, and they came highly recommended from a few other home owners that I know. They were both very professional and came up with some great ideas so we ordered the windows. When the windows arrived for installation the crew explained everything to us and they did a fantastic job on the install. We are very happy that we went with Clera Windows and I highly recommend them…Answer from pro:
We love satisfied customers. Thank you for the great review.

Review left on 14 Aug 2017Rating: 5 out of 5Front Window Replacement
We recently had our 67 year old, energy inefficient, front picture window replaced by Clera Windsor. From the initial home visit with Gary Gainham going over our options to the final installation with Rob & Scott, we were very satisfied with the knowledge and quality of the work provided. Not only will I use Clera again, I will recommend them to friends and family looking to replace their windows. I'm looking forward to fall weather and opening up my new window.Answer from pro:
One of our favorite things is to start the day with a lovely HomeStars review, M.Tremblay. Thanks so much for yours!

My husband and I were very happy with the windows themselves. They look like quality windows. The installers were exceptional workers and finished even ahead of schedule. The salesman was very knowledgeable and helped us to make good choices.Answer from pro:
Our goal, lofty as it is, is 100% customer satisfaction. Thanks for getting us that much closer.

Review left on 3 Aug 2017Rating: 5 out of 5Kitchen Reno. And full house upgrade
In 2010 had them replace 6 windows and transform an 11' x 8' window into a 5 panel bow window. Sales and install staff were amazing did a fantastic job. So when I renovated my kitchen called them back to replace the remaining windows in the house and a brand new window ( the brick had to be cut ). Both sales and install remembered us and our house 7 years later. Did another great job with the lifetime warranty can't beat these guys. ( photo of new cut window for kitchen).Answer from pro:
We love satisfied customers. Thanks for the great the review.

I ordered 3 doors from Clera. One garage entrance door and two sets of expensive glass pane double doors. I felt the price was worth it for what I was getting. I was assured during the buying process that they would take care of everything. The doors got installed, and they do look great. The installers were friendly. When they were done, they only finished nice framing on one of the doors, leaving the other one looking unfinished (with exposed cement and unfinished area above the door). They initially wanted to charge extra to finish. The installers also scratched the glass a little while installing (minor), scratched a handle they installed, and threw out the boxes that the new handles came in (which contained the latches, extra hardware, and allen keys used to adjust them). A lot of these issues stem from poor communication. This was eventually resolved and I am satisfied with the end result. So... While they have good products, use caution when talking to sales people and get everything in writing. Inspect their work carefully and communicate with installers to make sure nothing was damaged during install.Answer from pro:
You're going to love your new Clera products, Andy. Great investment in your home!

Mike (sales) was very informative and nice to deal with. We had 10 casement windows replaced brick to brick, including two curved windows. They replaced builder windows. We're very pleased with the alignment of the grilles, the hide-away screens, the solid wood sills/sashes, and we've found the windows are noticeably quieter than our old ones. The windows came with CSA and Energy Star information on them, as expected. The installation crew did a great job ensuring the cavities between the brick and the window frames were fully insulated, they were tidy, always took their boots off when they entered our home, and they dealt with unexpected issues quickly and directly to help us out. The installation crew (led by Drew) even pushed the job well to avoid the crazy rainfalls we've had lately. Only one window was left to be installed when it did start raining, and they covered the opening well so that no rain made it inside the house or affected the caulking. We'd definitely use Clera again.Answer from pro:
Thank you for the lovely review. We do our very best to treat every customers home as if it was our own. Thanks for the kind words!
