    windows

I put a down-payment on four new basement windows, On the third attempt for installation (after not showing up two other times), the windows they brought were the wrong size. Decided to cancel the order since the windows were either measured incorrectly by Clera or manufactured incorrectly by Clera. After NUMEROUS phone calls to customer support as well as phone calls and emails to management, my calls and emails are not being acknowledged or returned.

    Quality all around!

I am simply impressed with the quality and service I received from Clera. Everyone we interfaced with was professional helpful. The Customer Service Manager Rita was a pleasure to connect with and she was attentive to our every need. The Installer Ranjan showed up on time and took his time to install the window with concern. Quality service, quality product, quality company. Thank you for the wonderful experience. Would recommend Clera to anyone that is interested in their services.

    Windows/Doors Replacement

Ken came for estimate. Made down-payment. Told windows/doors would be here Feb/Mar 2021. No updates! Started calling 2 weeks ago. Finally after 3 calls a return call. Said he would look into in. Nothing since! Called both numbers today and appears not to answer cell phone. Horrible

    Answer from pro:

Hi Ena, I am very sorry to hear that Ken has not returned your call. As per my voice message to you, please give me a call asap so we discuss and resolve all issues. Rita 905-738-1870 X240

    Front door replacement

We cannot say enough about the amazing transformation our new door has added to the facade of our home. It’s not only stunning, but it’s solid too. Our hallway is much brighter now and the immense door will allow us to easily move furniture in and out.

    Answer from pro:

    Not a happy customer!!

Initially the sales rep was courteous and very helpful... but once the sale was made we were left to constantly follow up on the progress ourselves. We were working with strict deadlines and unless we had constantly hounded them we would have been waiting much longer. Additionally, one entire window was missed off the order and had to be added. Then we were told, after the fact, that there was going to be a $500 charge for delivery because they "missed" the delivery truck for that week and unless we wanted to wait another few weeks we would have to pay extra. Ok, ok... fine!! We just needed the windows installed so we could send all the pictures to the bank. THEN one of the installers broke one of the windows... well that took another 4 months to get installed which was super frustrating because again... we had to continually follow up. Then one cold winter day we felt cold draft... there was a huge opening gapping hole above the doors!! So if that's not enough to put you off... our beautiful sliding glass doors were not installed properly... they don't slide easily and to lock them it takes all my strength to pull them together tightly to lock. And guess what we're told... "not their problem because the floor wasn't level". Well you think they would have mentioned this before the install?? The funny thing is... day one of install they were perfect... but the installer came back the next day and added caulking above the door... and I'm not no expert but when that stuff expands you think it's going to cause the door to bind?? Needless to say our overall experience with this company is extremely disappointing!!! I gave them a 2 rating because some of the other windows were installed OK.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Melanie, We thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear about all your troubles. At Clera we NEVER, NEVER CHARGE customers for deliveries. We also spoke to our local dealer that looks after the Coe Hill, Bancroft region and he informed us that he has not sold any windows or doors in Coe Hill for several years. Perhaps, someone else sold you windows under the pretense of Clera Windows and Doors In order to get to the bottom of this please call me Rita at 905 738-1870 X 240. If you can also provide me with a copy of of sales agreement, it will help to determine who sold you the windows. A Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Excellent products and customer service

Needed some new windows and Greg did an excellent job of working with my wife and I on reviewing the scope of work, educating us on Clera's products and ensuring we fully understood the pricing. Trevor and team were excellent on the install and Greg's follow up's were on point. A job well done!

    New Windows & Doors

We used Clera Burlington last year to replace all the back windows in our home, and just had them come in to replace a garage man door as well. John was great to deal with, always keeping us up to date on when orders would arrive. Trevor and his crew were efficient, tidy and did great work. Trevor even stopped by when we had an issue with a window that Clera hadn't installed. Would highly recommend!

    Answer from pro:

Hi Tara, Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We're greatly appreciative of your immense loyalty to our company. We also appreciate your recommendation, and are delighted that Trevor and his crew went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure your satisfaction. We thank you again for your business and hope to work with you again!

Lack of accountability when things go wrong

This company's biggest shortcoming is their lack of accountability to fix issues when things go wrong. You'll notice in a lot of their responses to bad reviews here or homestars), they offer hollow assurances to take issues offline or they finger-point and call out users for "fake reviews" - not a whole lot of integrity in that, is there? In 2017, we had a new storm door installed and 3 basement windows replaced and we were very happy with our experience. However in March of 2021, the storm door pump bracket ripped out of the door frame. When we called Clera to see if it would be covered under warranty, we were told that the issue was due to water damage to the frame and they would not cover the cost of the repair. Clera agreed that there was water damage in our door frame that could only have existed prior to the storm door install. This shouldn't be left up to the homeowners to determine - we are NOT professionals in this trade. At one point, they tried to imply that maybe the water damage occurred after install, but they quickly retracted that theory when we suggested that it meant the storm door was of poor quality if it didn't protect our door frame from water damage. Our front door never had a storm door or awning to protect it from the elements. If the installer didn't consider this to be a potential issue for our wood door frame, it tells me that Clera willingly works with negligent installers who do sub-par work. While we felt that we shouldn't be responsible for the repair bill, we were willing to accept a fair compromise at $100 for the repair, to which they refused. Our experience tells the story of a company with a lack of integrity who operates on unethical practices. If you are like us, you will want to give money to companies who stand by their work and make things right when they go wrong. We've worked with other companies on home renovation projects and paid extra money at the advice of the professionals to ensure things were done properly. And when things went wrong, these companies came back to fix the issues. Unfortunately, Clera is not that company. Proceed with extreme caution! UPDATE: Soon after posting a negative review on Homestars, Clera agreed to fix the screen door at a discounted rate, if we agreed to take an earlier review down. They were willing to go as low as $100 to send someone for the repair. We agreed to pay the $100 dollars in advance and were told we would be contacted by the installer directly. After quite a bit of chasing, an installer finally contacted us three months later to schedule the repair. When the installer arrived, he made no effort to contact us. Instead, he quickly did his work and left. A wooden block was screwed over the existing frame. To make matters worse, the door only opens half-way. I contacted Clera who confirmed they considered the door fixed, knowing that the door was not functioning. I essentially spent $100 to wait 3 months for a few screws, a wooden block, and a fix that now prevents my door from opening properly. We continued to go back-and-forth with Clera. The installer pointed out that the door was not installed properly, but wouldnt believe that the error was made by Clera. The installer accused me of tampering with the door. This further validates what weve been trying to get through to Clera - The storm door was not properly installed. We got our $100 refunded, but the time we spent arguing and chasing these people, well never get back. Terrible experience. FINAL UPDATE: it is now November 2022, the storm door needs to be replaced. The door will not shut properly and the retractable screen will not open. At this point, I'll cut my losses and find a company that stand behind their products and services to replace my storm door.

    Answer from pro:

Hello BoedFrost, We thank you for your feedback and we are sorry about your door troubles. Clera, has a very competitive warranty in the industry and we stand behind it 100%. As per our conversations and several e-mails, we were clear that your issue was not caused by any fault of ours and it will not be covered under the warranty. We would have happily covered the cost if it was our fault. After speaking with the installer that installed your storm door, he informed me that this was not an installation issue and one of many reasons is that it could have been caused by a strong wind if the door was left open. As per the terms and conditions of your signed contract, there is a mandatory labour fee for service after two years of installation date and this is applicable to all customer’s unless otherwise specified on their contracts. Costs for non-warranty services as such are determined by the type of service provided, materials used and time spend to complete the service. The service to correct the issue was offered to you at the cost of $250 + tax . which is a minimal amount if you were to hire an independent contractor. I have discussed with top management and we are glad to reduce the amount to $100.00 provided you amend your review stating that we took action to fix the issue. We are also willing to offer you 10% discount on top of our promotional discounts if you decide to use Clera for any future projects. Please let us know if you wish to proceed with the service. We wish you the best!

    new door and windows

"The windows and door we had installed seem to be of good quality. That said we had to chase your sales/ service rep for months and months to get a post-install issue with the door resolved. The issue is now fixed and we would use this company again."

    Answer from pro:

Hello Carol, We thank you for your review, we are very sorry for the poor experience you have endured. We are delighted that the issue has been resolved and you will be using our services again. Thank you again for your feedback and business! Enjoy your new door & windows!
