    Plumbing

    Our Kitchen Sink began leaking unexpectedly the day before out-of town guests were expected to arrive. Within an hour of calling Mr. Rooter, John D. arrived, identified what needed to be done and was already at work. We had him also look at our other sinks (27 years old) and had him do some preventative maintenance. John was professional, efficient and most capable in completing the work. We are most satisfied with the service from John D. and Mr. Rooter. David D. - North York

    Water back up

    Travis Magee from Mr. Rooter Plumbing was fantastic. Within days of moving into our home, we had water backing up into our basement. Travis came within an hour of calling, diagnosed the problem and immediately corrected it. We came to learn that roots had grown into our old existing clay drain pipe (common for our neighbourhood). Obviously, roots continue to grow, so we wanted to fix the issue permanently. After discussing what options were available, we booked an appointment to have the old pipe re-lined. A cost effective no dig option that will fix the problem of roots getting into our drain. Travis is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Travis not only provided excellent customer service, but peace of mind. Thanks, Travis.

    Sewage repair

    On Sunday July 14 I came home to realized I had sewage back up in my basement. I called Mr. Rooter and they sent Travis to my home to assess the situation. Travis took the time to find the real problem, he was professional, reliable, on time and he took the time to explain the problem, the diverse alternatives, etc. The next day he came back with a crew and repair the damage. They did all the work and cleaned up everything afterward. The cost was in line with any competitors and I felt that they really took great care of me as a customer. I highly recommend them and will call Travis again without hesitation.

    kitchen faucet replacement

    I own a small rental property and have used Mr Rooter and Brian Pellet on two previous occasions. I always ask for Brian now when I call because he is trustworthy, reliable, an expert plumber and clear about problems, solutions and costs. He is a great ambassodor for Mr Rooter. When there was a leaky kitchen faucet, I had no doubt about calling Mr. Rooter for quick and reliable service.

    several plumbing services

    I just completed Mr. Rooter's customer survey and wanted to share with others what I wrote about the last service I received from Technician Anthony Petrauskas : I cannot thank your technician Mr. Petrauskas enough. Immediately upon entering my home he noted that he smelled gas. We have had several technicians from different companies come into our home and not notice anything. I normally never write into compliment a technician’s service, but what made me write this one was because Mr. Petrauskas noted that we have an infant in the home and stressed that for her health we should call the city. He continued to describe in great detail what I should explain to the city, whom I should speak to and later did the same with regards to the plumbing service that required the city to shut of our water. He was extremely thorough, personable and friendly. Because of Mr. Petrauskas, we learned that we had two gas leaks in our home, one was serious enough that it had to be shut off and it was right below our 8 month old daughter's bedroom. As I mentioned before I have had several technicians come into our home in the past and also into our home in Barrie and I have learned more about my home than I did from anyone else. As with all your technicians, he was also very quick and cleaned up after he was finished the job. I told him I didn't have a dustpan, and he still insisted on cleaning up. The bathroom floor was actually cleaner than we had it before. I could go on and on, but for the mere fact that he helped remove a significant health to our new family is enough to commend Mr. Petrauskas. We thank you sincerely and you have gained a loyal customer for life.

    Emergency Plumbing Repairs

    We needed a plumber immediately to fix a punctured water pipe in the basement. Mr. Rooter dispatched John D. who came to our rescue -- he was polite, courteous and professional in fixing the problem in a fast and quality way. John is an asset to the company. We highly recommend calling Mr. Rooter for all plumbing needs -- don't waste your time with others. Highly recommend Mr. Rooter.

    Drain snake

    I woke up this morning to find the sink backing up into our tub. With only one bathroom for our family, I knew this had to be fixed asap. After a little research, we attempted to solve the problem ourselves, but to no avail. My call to Mr. Rooter was answered on the first ring and, after I explained my situation, the representative put a RUSH on our service and said that we could probably expect a plumber to arrive by noon. I was pretty happy with this, since my goal had become to get it fixed within 24 hours! Less than 30 minutes later, the representative called me back to say that the plumber would arrive within the next half hour. Sure enough, John arrived right on time and quickly assessed the problem and determined a solution. He quoted a price and went about getting our drains clear and working again. He did his job quickly, cleaned up after himself and guaranteed the work for 30 days. I am very happy and impressed with Mr. Rooter, and especially John, and will definitely call again next time we have a plumbing issue - hopefully not too soon though! Thanks again, John!

    Install Backwater Valve

    This is one of my worst experiences with a company ever. My basement was flooded due to sewer backup from the major storm we had on July 8, 2013. We contacted Mr. Rooter and Brian was sent over to assess the work. It was determined that a backwater valve needed to be installed. The total cost for the work was $2819 (see pic of first invoice) and I paid a $500 deposit. During excavation, according to Brian, ADDITIONAL alterations to the drainwork was necessary totaling $5,876 (see pic of second invoice) and I paid a $1000 deposit. Now the job is $8695! Coming to my senses the next day, I told Mr. Rooter to put the work on hold and I called two other plumbing companies (also from Homestars) to assess the work. Both companies provided an estimate of $2500 for the ENTIRE JOB. The work was completed by another company (see pic of new invoice). Both companies said that there were no "additional" cost required and it would have been included in the first estimate. Now I'm pretty angry at this point knowing that they tried to take me to the cleaners. But the frustration continued as I rightly try go get my deposit back. Trying to be reasonable, out of the $1500 deposit, I asked for $1000 back. I met with Sean, the son of the owner, and he told me that he only would return $500. After much back and forth, I was able to get $700 back--less than 50% of my deposit. In hindsight, I should have picked up on some suspicious cues from Mr. Rooter: Brian, an experienced plumber, curiously did not know that the maximum City of Toronto rebate for a backwater valve is $1200, as he told me I can get up to $3200 back. He also said that any other company would charge me a similar price to his quote. This whole experience really made me kind of disgusted because it made me feel that because of the widespread damage caused by the storm, a lot of people were vulnerable and susceptible to being taken advantage of. I hope this review is helpful to others. I met with Derek Moreland, President/Owner, twice—on July 26 and August 6.  We discussed the matter in detail and he felt that his company did not handle the situation appropriately.  True to his word, I received a complete refund of my deposit.  Mr. Moreland was gracious and sincere in his dealings with me.  Although I found the overall experience regrettable, in the end, the matter was resolved to my satisfaction.

    toilet repair

    Rick went above and beyond the call to help me solve the problem. It wasn't cheap but in the end I couldn't have done it myself, and he was invested in coming to a successful resolution... which required some creativity and patience on his part (which is rare). A repairman who actually cared. I wouldn't hesitate to call again... and so far I'm 3/3 for Mr. Rooter calls.

    Plumbing Repair

    Had a leak in the upstairs bathroom that came into our main floor storeroom. Mr Rooter sent George out, who arrived right on time and quickly assessed the problem and gave an upfront quote (along with an explanation of the quote). He then went about fixing the issue quickly--again, explaining what he was doing as he went and giving us options where there were any. He fixed the problem within 2 hours and we were so pleased with his work we asked if he could install a toilet while he was there and attend to a leaky faucet. He did both, and even helped us save money by explaining the membership plan (which i also recommend). Overall, we could not be happier with his work and with Mr. Rooter. He did not try to sell us more than we needed, but did exactly what was needed. He was also a really nice guy. My recommendation: Call Mr. Rooter and if he is available, ask for George!
