    drain clearance

Your service technician, Ziggy Koska has just left my home and you need to know that his visit was a refreshing experience for me. I had only heard about your company this morning and immediately called and asked for someone to attend at my home after 2 o'clock. Mr. Koska arrived a couple minutes beforehand and waited in his van and rang my bell exactly at 2:00 o'clock. One of the first things that I noticed about this individual when I went to the door was that he was already wearing his disposable shoes, which was a great relief for me. After his investigation, he told me what was required and physically showed me the scheduled rates for the different jobs. Mr.Koska was clean and very respectful of my home and me. He did an excellent job and before he left, he even checked my second bathroom and the laundry room and was satisfied that they didn't present a problem. Because of my experience with this technician, It goes without saying and I will definitely use your company again and recommend you to my neighbours and friends. Sincerely Laurel Sealy

    clogged kitchen sink

Phil's service was very professional. He gave me a reasonable price, worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. I was very pleased with his service. I will definitely use Mr. Rooter again and I'll be asking for Phil when I do.

    New Laundry Installation

I had a number of quotes from different plumbers provided for different projects within my house. I found the overall price of mr rooter high compared to other the plumbers with the exception of one item. I decided to move forward the one item which was reasonable ( new laundry (washer) and fixing of a drain). I was in the middle of some renos so the area was partial unfinished. Here are the items that I was unhappy with: 1. Alexia had to cut some holes in the drywall to run the pipes and drain for the laundry. The hole for the drain was a large square for a circular pipe. I couldn't understand why he couldn't use a large circular drill bit attachment to minimize the gap around the pipe. 2. The Drain was attached to a lose piece of wood on the wall. 3. The hot and cold water was nailed onto of the wooden studs. He suggested that when I am ready I should recut and put into the studs 4. Didn't recommend I should have a drain for the floor near the laundry and when I called him to check it out; he said I didn't need it. 5. Failed to check the washing machine to ensure the hose would fit the drain for the water discharge (follow-up visit was required to fix). All in all it took 3 visits to get the job done, but I am disappointed with the end result. Details of the quote. For another project I was quoted $700 to move the water tank eight feet. I drained the tank and moved myself and paid a fraction to refix the plumbing.

    Bathtub drain unclogging

I just had my kitchen/bathroom drains(which are connected) unclogged, I called Mr. Rooter for this service based on lots of "10" reviews on this website, but I would have to say the experience I had with them is definitely not a "10". First, the dispatcher who I talked to last night said the person would come between 8AM to 10AM this morning, therefore I was going to go to work late to wait for them, by 10:30AM, I still didn't get any call from them so I called and was told that they were very busy and would not be here for another couple of hours, so then I had to leave and asked my friend to deal with them, I am really ok with this though as the lady did say they would be busy and they would try to come as early as possible, but still it's kinda a drag. While the service person was here and he talked to me on the phone about the price, he said they could only do a temporary fix and they could not guarantee it wouldn't happen anytime soon, the only thing he was doing was to open the clog a bit so the water can go through and he quote the price would be $225 plus tax and gas surcharge, and he said other places would charge pretty much the same . Out of deseparation ( we were not able to use the kitchen for 2 days), I agreed to it and the work took about 20 mins as according to my friend, they just used a drain snake. Afterwards ,out of curiosity, we decided to call a different company and asked them about the price, we described the exact situation to the person, without knowing the pricing Mr. Rooter charged me, they have quoted us the price for $120 which is $100 cheaper than Mr. Rooter charged me. In conclusion, I would say the dealing with Mr. Rooter was an ok experience, the person we talked on the phone was ok and the service person was ok, the price though, as it's just a temporary fix and it was less than half an hour work, it's really high. Would I use Mr. Rooter again? I might, but I would definitely get a few quotes from other places as well so I know I am not getting ripped off.

    Fixed toilet

I cannot believe that Mr Rooter took 12 hrs to respond to my broken toilet, only to say it was a broken gasket. Had them replace a few parts that I could have purchased at Home Depot for , let's say $50 , spent less than an hour here, and my bill was $400.00 fricken dollars !!!! I will never use them again. Had a customer service guy called Fred call me when I complained. He promised to call me in 2 days after he looked at the bill. I told him " You'll never call me anyhow and you won't do anything to help now that you have my money" I should have bet money on THAT since I was spot on ! No one ever returned my call. Remember people.. they charge over $200 just to show up !!!

Dear Hanna, In respomse to your review posted on December the 16th, the following are my comments. Our company handles hundreds of service calls every week. The day you called for service we were short staffed, as one of our customer service representatives had called in sick. We were able to handle all our calls that day, unfortunately we dropped the ball in your case and for that, I apologize. First of all, your bill was $358.49 and we honored a $10.00 discount coupon you had which reduced your invoice down to $348.49. Then there was a $7.50 fuel surcharge which most service companies charge - some charge more. Then there was $46.28 for H.S.T. which is a mandatory charge, so in fact your bill for the services we provided was $358.49 and not $400.00. Fred, our Field Manager, did try to call you on several occassions. We don't charge $200.00 just to show up - I have no idea where you got that from; perhaps you could call me at 416 488 1940 and explain that to me. Our technician followed our company's procedures to the letter - he assesed your problems which were significantly more than "a broken gasket", he then gave you a firm quote in writiing which you approved before the work started, he then proceeded to complete the work and when he was done you paid him without any comment whatsoever about being ripped off. The work was completed on December the 6th; your complaint was lodged 10 days after. It is my understanding that some handyman in your building told you that you had been ripped off, that's unfortunate because the handyman probably has no idea what costs are incurred in running a plumbing comppany that operates 24 hours a day. In closing, I would like to bring to your attention the many extremely positive reviews our company has received in the past. Sincerely, Derek Moreland President, Mr Rooter Plumbing G.T.A

Main sanitary drain blocked, breather collapsed

Frano Sain, Mr. Rooter's Field Manager, came to our house on Saturday, November 20th, after we called about a very bad odour in the house. He told us, and showed us, that the main drain was blocked and the section at the trap and the breather had to be replaced. He explained the procedure, even showing us pictures of what we had now and what we would have following the replacement, and also told us about the Drain Grant from the City of Toronto. He is a super nice guy and very professional. Yuriy and Roman came on Sunday morning to dig the big hole and give us a fully functioning temporary drain so that we could use the water in the house. Again, very pleasant, very professional and very careful about containing the dirt and tidying up the site. Frano came and did a camera inspection to check the condition of the rest of the drain to the house and to the street. On Monday, the City came to inspect the job and then Yuriy and Roman put it all back together. Unfortunately, there was still a bad odour in the house and I asked Frano to come back on Monday, the 29th. He was very concerned, but didn't know what was wrong, and made another appointment to bring Fred, a Supervisor, I think, back with him on Wednesday, December 1st, because he said "Fred has a nose for these sorts of problems". They were great! They pulled up the carpeting to try to determine where the odour was coming from. No luck. Then they demolished the floor of my closet and there it was, a hidden drain which was the source of the smell! The whole time, they couldn't have been nicer - asking my permission to rip up the carpet and apologizing for making a mess of the closet - I didn't mind, I was thrilled that they found the problem for me. I would absolutely call them again and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks so much to all of them, Yuriy and Roman for all their hard work outside, and Frano and Fred for persevering until they found the problem. Though the ICK factor in these jobs is very high, the crew from Mr. Rooter was great!

    Toilet flow issues

After moving into a new home we found the toilets that came with the house would sometimes not flush, and sometimes they would. Puzzled we called Mr Rooter. Someone came out to our house and he looked at our toilets and said that it was most likely that they were fist generation low-flow, and recommended replacing toilets. He was very friendly and helpful, and was very personable. He provided us with their prices for new toilets & installation, and also gave us some tips should we decide to purchase and install them ourselves. Mr. Rooter does not charge for a diagnosis, only if they actually fix something. We were very pleased with this service, and would have them back again.

Kitchen sink hookup and faucet installation

I got a new kitchen counter installed with an undermount sink, and called Mr. Rooter to come hook up the plumbing and install a new faucet. Other plumbing companies had given quotes from $450 to $565, and Mr. Rooter came in at $503. Called around 7pm on Thursday night, and Phil S. was able to come at 12pm on Friday. The job took about 3 hours and Phil did a great job. I would definitely hire Mr. Rooter again.
