    Drainage Mystery

Typical Toronto plumbing story - old house, basement bathroom addition was done by a previous owner who wasn't a plumber. We have water draining slowly when we run a basement faucet and it seems to be backing up in the basement shower drain. Long story short, Keith snakes the drain, finds no blockage, and figures out that the sink and shower were not properly vented - which causes the delayed draining. This was a relief because my fear was that it was a blockage under the foundation of the house, which would have been an expensive fix. Keith was very thorough in determining the source of the problem and explained things well.

    Answer from pro:

We're glad that you appreciated the level of service Keith offered you and acknowledged Keith and Mr. Rooter Plumbing in this review. Please don't hesitate to contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing for your future plumbing or drain needs.

    Leak

We had a troubling leak from my apartment to the one downstairs. It seemed impossible to figure out how it had happened and where the problem was. We thought the floor would have to be broken open, but Robert eventually tracked down the problem to a simple blocked drain. And we very much appreciated Derek, Mr. Rooter himself, dropping by to make sure the diagnosis was correct.

    Answer from pro:

It was a pleasure for Derek to be welcomed into your home and we are greateful that you chose Mr. Rooter Plumbing. Robert is a fine plumber and we are we are happy to have him as part of our team.

    Leaking Basement Pipes

We live in an old house with the many challenges that come with age; leaking roof, leaky pipes, poor insulation, etc. As relatively new homeowners we don't mind doing most of the work ourselves (google, home depot workshops) but there comes a time when it's certainly best to call in the professionals. However, finding the right professional for the job can be a bit of a nightmare. During the summer we noticed a pipe leaking into the foundation wall running from the basement to a facet on the outside of the house. The facet fed into the garden hose. It seems that the previous owner neglected to drain and open the valve during the winter and the expanding ice split the pipe. Please understand, at first it really didn't seem like a big deal, more of a mess than anything else. Until one day, without knowing the degree to which the pipe was damaged, I turned on the water to soak the plants and streams of liquid began pouring into the basement from seams in the brick around the electrical panel....yikes! So we called one plumbing contractor who seemed disinterested in fully investigating the entire situation and quoted $300. We called a second contractor, who arrived at our house looking tired and seemed not to have bathed in a week. We weren't worried about getting a quote from this person. And then finally we called Robert from Mr. Rooter - GTA. From the moment Robert arrived he made us feel relaxed by taking the time to explain and educate. And as a entreprenuer myself, I really appreciated the time that he spent evaluating our needs. Robert walked us through the technical process, carefully explained the invoicing procedures, and helped us manage costs before agreeing to a final expenditure. Now understand, Robert was by no means the most inexpensive. As a matter of fact his services were the most expensive. But the quality of service and work that he put into what seemed like a simple plumbing job was worth every cent. Let me tell you why..... Often in old houses, previous owners don't think to do job properly the first time for reasons of cost, time constraints, etc. Most jobs related to old houses generally seem to short-sighted as well. What Robert though was going to be a simple job of changing pipes turned into hour upon hour upon hour of trying to correct errors that someone else had sealed into our concrete foundation wall. What impressed me most was his willingness to complete the job, and probably at great expense to himself. A work ethic like Roberts are difficult to come by. I say this much; if you've got a plumbing issue with your old Toronto house and you want no bullshit result...call this guy.

    Bathroom Plumbing

This was our first expereince using a plumber. The fact that they offered a free estimate before providing the service was a bonus. When we called we were told we would receive a call within 15 min and then an additional call within an hour for the time when they would arrive. We recevied both calls within the specified times so we were off to a great start. Once the technician arrived he reviewed the area and provided us with the information on the problem. He provided a quote that was accurate and was out the door to get the part so that we could get a hot shower. WIthin a couple of hours our hot water was restored and all issues addressed. He even provided us with the business card of the company that provided the part and gave his recommendations for further purchases of plumbing hardward. The experience overall was fantastic and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Drain snaked out as well as estimate on another service

I called Mr. Rooter and they sent out a technician within the hour. Ziggy responded to my call and was very polite, prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Not only did he do his job (and quickly) he explained what had happened to cause my problem and made suggestions on how to permanently fix my problem. He's a great asset to this company.

    Replaced bathroom faucet

I wanted to replace a bathroom faucet within a week. I really didn't think it would be possible, but I called Mr. Rooter and they had someone there that day to give me an estimate. Main drain power flush

Our main sewer line backed up due to grease. Mike R showed up Tuesday day night, cameraed drain and found heavy grease build up. He recommended a powerflush to clear grease away. Wednesday morning mike and Keith showed up at 9:00am on the dot to perform the powerflush. I was also impressed that the owner showed up aswell. Thanks guys for an excellent job.
