    Hot Water Tank Leak

I called Priority Plumbing yesterday, and Mike came over to fix my hot water tank. There was water everywhere! Mike was very professional and helped me calm down. He told me that he would fix my problem in the next couple of hours and he did! He replaced my shut off valve, then told me that the whole tank was shot. He then suggested that I call the rental company and see if they could replace it for me instead of purchasing a new one. I so glad he suggested that, the rental company came within 2 hours, took one look at the tank, and agreed that it would have to be replaced. So thanks to Mike, he not only fixed my leak, but he also saved me $2000.00! I would definetley use Priority Plumbing again, and will be recommending them to all my friends and family. Plugged Toilet

I called Priority Plumbing last week about my toilet. My daughter had dropped something down the toilet, and it was stuck. Steven arrived within the hour to fix it! He was prompt and very polite. The price was little more than what I expected to pay, but Steven made up for it by being so polite and explaining everything to me step by step. I even signed up for their membership. Which means that even if I have to call them at 3am, they'll be there for me and I won't have to worry about paying their emergency after hours fee. The entire experience was great. I will definetly use them again. Karen

    basement waterproofing

I hired Priory Plumbing to waterproof my basement. Initially I was very excited as they seemed very professional and customer oriented. Unfortunately the results were not what we agreed upon or even in accordance with the building code dictating the bare minim standards. I realized that something was wrong about half way through the job when I noticed that weeping tiles, as agreed upon (and as the building code requires!), were not getting installed. When I called the office, the explanation provided was because of the sandy soil the weeping tiles were not necessary, they could clog up and potentially cause more problems. I may not be an expert, but I believe that a plumbing company providing waterproofing services should know how to install weeping tiles even in sandy soil. Even more surprisingly, Priory Plumbing claimed to be saving me money as the weeping tiles may need new connection to the drain. I am not sure why was that not considered or explained in the initial quote? Regardless, I strongly believe that before somebody at Priority Plumbing made the decision not to install the weeping tiles, I should have been consulted and given the options, and the ultimate decision not to install the weeping tiles should have been mine. After all, I was the customer paying over $8,000 for this job. Although Priory Plumbing failed to inform me that they have made the decision on my behalf not to install the weeping tiles, please note that they did not have a problem to call to inform me that a service of an electrician would be required to disconnect my air-conditioning unit. I am not certain why this was not included in the initial quote as the air-conditioning was always there. I was charged additional $400! I strongly doubt that disconnected 4 wires is really worth $400. Furthermore, my objection to the outrages $400 price tag was justified by Priority Plumbing that it is the price charged by the electrician and not Priority Plumbing. Well, I find this even more insulting. In my opinion, Priority Plumbing should be more selective to whom they subcontract their electrical work. It appears to me that the main focus here was not I, the customer, but the electrician, another dishonest person taking advantage of me. My question why the additional $400 charge is not reduced against the services not rendered, the cost of the weeping tiles and the labour associated with the installation, unfortunately went unanswered and my credit card got charged extra $400. In conclusion, I feel Priority Pluming has not delivered what was promised, I got fooled by the excellent communication skills and the pretence of professional service oriented company. My job was half done and Priority Plumbing even found a way to charge me extra money for it. I certainly would not trust them with any future business.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Viktor, As explained to you previously, the reason the weeping tiles were not installed was because the drain that we need to connect to for the water to drain away is plugged. We would have had to break the floor in the basement, dig a trench and replace the pipe inside the house, costing you thousands of dollars in extra work. As much as we would have loved to earn that additional revenue, it truly is not needed in your situation. Because of the sandy soil conditions of your property, the water naturally drains away into the ground. Unlike clay soil were the water does not get absorbed into the ground, in which we would have advised you to do so. The weeping tiles cost us 65 cents a foot making the total cost of the material $34.45, hardly a cash savings on our part. We were looking out for your best interests as knowledgable and experienced waterproofers, and had we thought the additional expense to replace the drain would have benefitted you in any way, we would have informed you. It is true that with a sand soil type area, the weeping tiles plug up with sand, so you would have plugged weeping tiles connected to a plugged drain line, serving no purpose whatsoever. I asked yo if you wanted to replace the drain and you said no. I do agree with you 100% that you should have been consulted either way, and for that I offered you to install them as we do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I never once hesitated to do so, in trying to make you happy. You did not want us to install them and you did not allow us to make things right for you, so it's important that readers know that we stand behind our work. Furthermore we spend hundreds if not over a thousand dollars in additional materials and labor parging your wall, to ensure that your job was 100% watertight, something no other company would have done and it is unfair that you say you got a job that was half done when the installation of the weeping tiles serve no purpose in your case, take about 1 hour to install, and we spent an additional day to seal the wall above and beyond the call of duty. You never asked me to offset the cost of the weeping tile and labor associated with it, otherwise I would have refunded you the $35 even though we more than made up for it, with the additional concrete work. As far as the air conditoning unit is concerned, we had to hire a licensed airconditioning company to come to your home, disconnect not only 4 wires but the refridgerant line, then come back and re- install the unit. Dealing with refridgerant requires a licensed and professional company. I would be more than happy to show you the invoice to prove that we did not make a penny off of that service. I have no clue where you come off of calling the air conditioning company dis-honest. Your credit card only got charged after you authorized the payment for the $400 as we had a signed agreement to do so weeks in advance. I can see being upset if we were not a company of ethics that stands behind our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but when we offer to install the weeping tiles, and are not given the opportunity to make things right, I don't think it's fair for anyone you or us. I do not see how you can question our trustworthiness after trying to make it right for you, or make it sound like we are after more money when our intention was to save you money.

    Repaired Toilet

We had our toilet back up first thing in the morning so we called Priority after finding them online. They came within an hour and were very polite and professional. I was worried about having to call a plumber and the horror stories you hear about price, but they were fast and the price was great. I was able to make it to work on time and it made what could have been a real inconvenience in my day to be not a problem at all. Other than it cost me $200 but that was my fault for flushing kleenex down the drain, I am very pleased. Good Job!

    Leak in my ceiling

I was referred to Priority Plumbing by a neigbor who used them several times in the past. As always I did my research and checked out their website which looked professional and had lots of testimonials and displayed the award they have won for best plumbing company. I also checked out Homestars and read some of the reviews. I was kind of hesitant to call them because of some of the negative reviews I read, but I guess since it was a referral I decided to go ahead with it. Jennifer was very polite and professional on the phone and they came within 1 hour. Mike arrived showed I.D. and was super courteous and professional. h He looked around to diagnose the problem and was very thorough in his explanation of the work needed to be done and the costs involved, which were not unreasonable like some of the stories I read on homestars. The job was completed around 3 hours later. He had to cut a hole in my ceiling and fix a leaking water pipe that turns out the previous plumber did not instal properly. He wore booties and put down drop cloths. When he was finished, he left the room very clean. He was not sloppy and rushing like other workers we've had in the past. I really don't know why anyone would have a problem with Priority Plumbing. I would recomend them without hesitation and hopefully won't need to use them again but I will if I ever need a plumber.

    New Fixtures in the bathroom

We just had our toilet, sink, and 2 sets of faucets replaced in our bathroom. My husband and I decided to go out and purchase our own since we wanted a certain style to match the rest of the bathroom. Greg was very professional and helpful in the decision making process and spent quite a bit of time offering us advice on where to purchase and what to watch out for. He probably 2 hours or so without any additional charges. He cam back a week later and installed all of our fixtures and was very careful when working in our house using drop cloths and shoe covers. I have to say that he was very nice and pleasant to have in our home. The whole experience was just great.

    Leaking faucet

I was told when I called Priority that I wouldn't be charged for the visit if my problem couldn't be fixed. The issue was a tub leak and the piping was behind tile with the vent to the side. I could reach the faucet by snaking my hand through the hole, but with no plumbing expertise, I couldn't deal with the problem myself but figured a trained plumber could. The plumber who arrived was polite and informed me that he couldn't fix the problem without breaking the tile. O.k., so how much to break the tile? He pulls out the book of big numbers and points to the cost - I could have dropped dead on the spot. Over $600 before taxes to break the tile (and not even cutting a neat even hole - he advised I would have to hire someone else if I wanted that). I didn't go ahead with the work and was charged $50 for the pleasure. I guess technically, he may have been able to do the work, but I would have had to pay more than $600 to find that out. I notice from Priority's responses to the reviews that the focus seems to be on the fact that they do a good job and their plumbers are not criminals. Which kind of implies that the plumbing business is rife with murderers doing terrible jobs. Give me a break. The crime is the prices being charged by Priority. I am writing this review today because I decided to try opening up the tile myself. Guess what? It took me 10 minutes max with a chipping hammer (and I am a mom with zero experience at this). Priority called today asking if they could come back and fix the leak. If they charge over $600 for 10 minutes of work a monkey could do, I shudder to think of what would be charged for the actual skilled part of the work. If we can't fix the leak ourselves, I have no doubt that I will be able to find a plumber without a criminal record who will do a great job and not rob me blind (I'll get a referral this time).

    Answer from pro:

Unfortunately if you wanted our Plumber to stand in your home and do nothing at all, the price would be the same. We can not charge one price for what you consider sklled and another for what you don't consider skilled. We just got off the phone and I am surprised that you would write a negative review, when the nature of my call was to see how you were doing with your situation. You told me that you took a hammer and broke a hole, and you are lucky that the tile came off without causing damage to the rest of the tiles. Our Plumber would use a grinder which requires us to clear out the room and seal off the door to prevent the dust from escaping the bathroom. The we clean up the work area as clean or cleaner than we found it. You also told me on the phone that you are not sure if you could fix the wall the way you broke it. I think that it is also important to stress that we came out the same day when you needed service that day, we wore shoe covers, we respected you and your home, the plumber was very knowedgable and able to solve the most complex of issues without any stress or inconvenience to the home owner, arrived in a fully stocked vehicle and yes, is criminally backround checked and drug tested. Did you hear about the service technician who recently robbed a home in Oakville? I'm not saying that all plumbers are criminals, but let's face it, you are letting a stranger into your home. I highly doubt that you will find a Plumber that meets all of these criteria for the same price. We have just won our 2nd Award for "Best Plumbing Company" you can look for us in this weeks edition of the Villager which serves your area.

    Clog

First thing the guy do is pull the rate list with regular price and compares it with value price which comes with 1 year membership. To replace the bathtub faucet, I was quoted $1200. To open and close toilet $399 which is practically opening two screws which he did in couple of minutes. I understand the fact they are "licensed" "bonded" and do background check. But that doesnt mean they have license to charge arm and leg and it is all sales pitch. I would recommend people to do their own homework and get quotes from couple of different places. I firmly believe that ratings on his website are fake. Torontonians deserve better at affordable price.

    Answer from pro:

Hello highway 52 in Toronto, Our Service Partner Plan is one of the biggest reasons Torontonians choose to do business with Priority Plumbing. It offers a discount on services, front of the line priveledges, same day service and free annual plumbing maintenance to prevent emergencies from occuring in the first place. I am sorry you don't value having criminally backround checked, drug tested, Licensed and Insured technicians in your home, but for our thousands and thousands of very satisfied customers, they do. If you notice a trend of all of the bad reviews on homestars, you will see that it is always about price and never about quality of work or service. Perhaps you can find a cheaper price, but be careful that you don't end up on Holmes on Holmes with another disaster story. I believe that you get what you pay for. When dealing with water and plumbing in your home, you don't want to trust it to just anybody. We charge what we charge to keep the Best Plumbers employed for us and to efficiently offer the fastest most reliable service in Toronto. Since we always offer the price before we start, I don't see why you feel victimized. Some people like to eat at McDonalds and Some prefer quality. You decide.

Moving some plumbing for a renovation

I am renovating my bathroom and needed to move some plumbing pipes to accomidate the new design. Mike came by and discussed whether or not my plans were do-able plumbing wise. After a quick look in the basement he determined that my goals were achievable. He went to his truck and worked out a price down to the penny which which seemed reasonable. The next day he came and did the work. It took him most of the day, he put down drop cloths, wore shoe covers, was very polite and courteous. The jobsite was left very clean and all of the garbage was taken away. Over all I am very Happy, there were no surprises or glitches. My home was respected and the over all experience was painless for a renovation. I would gladly refer Priority Plumbing and would use them again.

    Leaking Pipes

I had a leak coming up from my basement floor. I was told it was a broken drain pipe from a reputable company. After speaking with a friend who had used Priority before, I decided to get another quote. As it turns out, the problem was a burst water line and there was no drain in the area at all. They fixed the problem in one day, repaired the floor and left the work are very clean. They were courteous and professional. They wore shoe covers and layed down drop sheets. I would recommend Priority Plumbing as I am quite happy with their service.
