One morning in October, after a tremendous rain storm, I discovered that one of my skylights was leaking. What a mess! I started reading reviews on HomeStars and discovered Skylights Unlimited Inc. I called and arranged for quotes from 3 different skylight companies and was quite surprised when the owner of Skylights Unlimited Inc., Denis Charron, arrived at the house. Denis spent far more time than the other 2 companies and carefully examined the skylight and explained that, because of the house settling over the 15 years since the skylights were last replaced, the seal had broken and any 'repair' would be makeshift at best. He drew diagrams to explain how and why the skylight should be replaced and suggested that it was only a matter of time before another skylight, a metre away, would fail as well. The next day he e-mailed me a very competitive quote and I decided to use them for the new skylights.
I am enormously pleased with the job that was done. The crew, Jeff and Kevin, were a pleasure to work with: professional, knowledgeable, personable, patient and very skilled. They ran into an unexpected problem because of the roof construction which could have meant tearing out the plywood boxes. A less competent crew would have simply torn out the boxes and left me with the mess and expense of replacing them but Jeff and Kevin managed to solve the problem without damaging the boxes. A neighbour who was a finalist for the "Canada's Best Handyman" television show 'dropped by' halfway through the work and said they were doing an outstanding job. They worked from 9:15 until after 6:00, cleaned up every bit of debris and even swept the driveway and the front porch.
Yet another 10 out of 10. A job extremely well done! I would recommend Skylights Unlimited Inc. without reservation.
