We are very satisfied with our newly built Trico Home in Cranston's Riverstone community and with our experience with Trico Homes Inc.!
Trico's staff, in particular the salesperson we worked with, Carmen De Luca, made us feel very comfortable and walked us through the new home purchase process. We asked many questions and customized and upgraded our home extensively, and Carmen left us feeling confident that we had considered every option, that nothing had been overlooked, and that everything we had discussed would happen accurately. This is a significant feat, given the complexity and number of decisions and options within a new home. Carmen continued to act as our main point of contact during the build of our house, answering questions, making a few last minute changes, and keeping us updated frequently. We attribute much of the joy and ease of the process to working directly with Carmen.
We are also exceptionally pleased with the build quality and workmanship within our home. Family and friends, who have more extensive renovation and home purchase experience than we do, frequently commend the finish quality, and the high attention to detail (things such as the quality of painting, precision of installation of hardware, and hanging of doors are frequently mentioned). The trades we met when going through our home while it was being built were all exceptionally respectful, complimentary, and excited to show us what they were working on.
Trico's after sales team were very helpful as well in giving us practical advice on how to manage our first home, and have worked with us to rectify the few items that naturally arise as we moved and began to use our new home.
Of course, with a project and transaction as large as a new home, there are always going to be small pieces which can be improved upon. One piece that became apparent early on was that we were advised our house would be ready approximately 2 months prior to the estimated date of possession we were given at time of sale. This was primarily due to Trico "processing our paperwork" quickly - the actual build time from the initial dig, to final walkthrough was accurate. While we accept that deviations in possession may happen, this one seemed a bit excessive, and much more in Trico's control then other factors we might expect would deviate possession times. Fortunately, we were able to adjust our plans accordingly but did have to negotiate the removal of two months from our lease.
The only other note we would offer in terms of constructive criticism revolves around some of Trico's external appointments (particularly for central vacuum, and for window coverings) which we found were not as well organized or as well integrated with the rest of Trico's building process as we would have expected. We had to seek out both of these organizations ourselves (while everyone else called us to set things up) and neither completed work prior to possession. Similarly, the appliance vendor did not have several of our choices "in stock" at time of possession and we had to wait a few weeks for replacements to come in. While we view this as a small issue, it does speak to a lack of organization on the vendor's part, since they had our choices and knew our possession date months in advance.
These two points are not significant in our minds when we reflect upon our entire experience, however we hope it provides some suggestions for enhancing the process. We are very happy with our beautiful new home, and with our experience with Trico Homes Inc. Everyone we worked with made us feel like valued customers, and went the extra mile to provide excellent customer service and a superior product. We would not hesitate to choose Trico again should we decide to build a new home in the future.
