You could not pay me to build another Trico home. I am not sure how the company can still be in business with this terrible of customer service. If I had a dime for every time I heard "we dropped the ball" on hour house, I would be mortgage free.
We moved into our house last November and it's been a joke since. First of all we were promised a 8-9 month build time and were told Trico NEVER goes over as they don't allow it. Well our house was barley framed at 9 months in. It sat there for months with no work being done on it. Then after 11 months they rushed the house to get it done by year end and it sure showed in the work that was done, and several things were missed or VERY poorly done. We had 2 floods in our house a couple of days before possession. They rushed to fix this in time for move in and did a terrible repair and finished it with one coat of paint and I had to argue to get it done properly.
I could go on and on with a list of things they "missed" during our build, or things that were done incorrect and never fixed but the list would never end. Most recently our issues have been that our ensuite shower membrane was installed incorrectly which leaked into our kitchen and had to have our shower tile torn up, along with the roof of our kitchen torn up and redone. This repair took almost a month even after I rushed them as I was days away from expecting our first child and didn't want to bring home a new baby into a dusty construction site. I also had to send email to complain about the mess that was left after these repairs as the trades did not clean up after themselves and I don't feel it was my job as the homeowner when they were the ones that installed our shower incorrect.
We also do not yet have our yard graded properly and its been over a year. We waited months for them to come grade our yard, meanwhile I found out from a friend that the they were grading the yards of the phase AFTER ours, and neglected our yard (everyone else on our street was done). After months of emails the grading finally happened in July. We then waited and waited for a grade certificate so we could start landscaping which never came. I had emailed them and called them for 3 months in which I was ignored, phone calls were never returned and emails never repalied. Finally I hear in Oct that our grading certificate did not pass. Which obviously wasn't a concern for them because I waited a month for them to do something about this and nothing, so played the game of calling and emailing and being yet again ignored, finally I called the construction supervisors, boss, boss, who said no one knew anything about this. When I questions why it took 3 months of me emailing them for them to figure out our grading certificate didn't pass and why no one was on top of this I got the famous phrase of "we dropped the ball". I paid Trico over $600,000 for my house, at the VERY least I don't think I am asking to much in a simple phone call back. Not to mention I paid the same price as everyone else on my street so why am I getting less service and quality then everyone else? In order to have our grading pass, the solution is to add a bunch of retaining walls to our yard. For one the retaining walls look terrible and they also take up and bunch of our already tiny yard, which is a challenge to landscape around and our already designed deck will now need to be redone to work around these retaining walls.
I am not sure who's job it was to look after our house and ensure these things don't happen but Trico obviously neglected our house several times and really has no customer service to help with issues. Not only am I upset with how they fixed our grade, I am upset that its now Nov before this is complete which means we lost the entire season of landscaping because Trico dropped the ball. I would have been far more understanding had they kept us in the loop and if I actually felt like they were on top of things, but instead they ignored us, were very disorganized and really did nothing to solve these issues. I feel it should be their job to notice and fix these things, not mine as a home owner I feel like Trico does poor quality work and backs it up with even worse customer service and the homeowner is the one that loses out as Trico does nothing to make up for there errors. I found out that they find out if a yard passes grade on the same day, so why was nothing done about fixing our for 4 months? When I asked this question they have no answer. Like I said before I am not sure how a company can stay in business with this terrible organization and service. Trico is clearly a sinking ship that I would avoid at all costs.
