TRICO homes do not honor there words or commitments

TRICO homes handed me the possession of a house with a home that had no access to the front stairs due to elevation of the house. There was no fencing on the stairs or deck and was deemed unsafe by the city inspection. On top of this they made a trench near my back deck and left it open all the while kids were playing in the area. They committed to Make a garrage ASAP in the coming summer but did not finish it as late as October end. After finishing the garage they left the electric cable to garage without any connection. Had to call them multiple times for little things without any results. After the city have them second notice and three hundred fine is when they came out to put fences. Recently had a water leakage in the roof due to faulty seal installation and they refused to fix it even when the house I bought was under one year manufacture or labor defect. I will never refer someone to buy a house from them. I don't even know how this company is still in business and licensed

Dear Homeowner, Trico Homes takes feedback from our customers very seriously. I have investigated your concerns and would like to discuss each item with you. Regarding the leak, it is unfortunate that the toilet clogged and overflowed onto the floor and ceiling below. Often times when items such as Q-Tips, paper towels, band aids, dental floss, cotton balls, oil/grease, and more are put down toilets, clogging can happen. The Trico Homes limited warranty does not cover the damage done as it is not considered a defect. As discussed the seal was not faulty which has been confirmed by the plumber. I would be happy to speak with you over the phone regarding the other items of concern. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience at 403-287-9300. Nicole Walker Customer Relations Manager

    New condo

We purchased a new condo in the Sage Hill community built by Trico Homes. We have recently gotten possession of this condo and everything has been coming along great. We haven't had any major issues such as with plumbing, electrical, or the interior. Some minor issues that did come up during our initial inspection were quickly addressed by the builders. We do however have an issue with flooring where the wooden flooring is coming off a little near the kitchen island area. This seems to be an invasive fix since the entire island would need to be removed to remedy it. We have been asked to wait for a few more weeks and see if this problem gets worse, if so, we will be given some options as to what needs to be done. Other than that, things have come along very well and we hope that everyone else has had a great experience as well.

    New single family house- Mahogany

You could not pay me to build another Trico home. I am not sure how the company can still be in business with this terrible of customer service. If I had a dime for every time I heard "we dropped the ball" on hour house, I would be mortgage free. We moved into our house last November and it's been a joke since. First of all we were promised a 8-9 month build time and were told Trico NEVER goes over as they don't allow it. Well our house was barley framed at 9 months in. It sat there for months with no work being done on it. Then after 11 months they rushed the house to get it done by year end and it sure showed in the work that was done, and several things were missed or VERY poorly done. We had 2 floods in our house a couple of days before possession. They rushed to fix this in time for move in and did a terrible repair and finished it with one coat of paint and I had to argue to get it done properly. I could go on and on with a list of things they "missed" during our build, or things that were done incorrect and never fixed but the list would never end. Most recently our issues have been that our ensuite shower membrane was installed incorrectly which leaked into our kitchen and had to have our shower tile torn up, along with the roof of our kitchen torn up and redone. This repair took almost a month even after I rushed them as I was days away from expecting our first child and didn't want to bring home a new baby into a dusty construction site. I also had to send email to complain about the mess that was left after these repairs as the trades did not clean up after themselves and I don't feel it was my job as the homeowner when they were the ones that installed our shower incorrect. We also do not yet have our yard graded properly and its been over a year. We waited months for them to come grade our yard, meanwhile I found out from a friend that the they were grading the yards of the phase AFTER ours, and neglected our yard (everyone else on our street was done). After months of emails the grading finally happened in July. We then waited and waited for a grade certificate so we could start landscaping which never came. I had emailed them and called them for 3 months in which I was ignored, phone calls were never returned and emails never repalied. Finally I hear in Oct that our grading certificate did not pass. Which obviously wasn't a concern for them because I waited a month for them to do something about this and nothing, so played the game of calling and emailing and being yet again ignored, finally I called the construction supervisors, boss, boss, who said no one knew anything about this. When I questions why it took 3 months of me emailing them for them to figure out our grading certificate didn't pass and why no one was on top of this I got the famous phrase of "we dropped the ball". I paid Trico over $600,000 for my house, at the VERY least I don't think I am asking to much in a simple phone call back. Not to mention I paid the same price as everyone else on my street so why am I getting less service and quality then everyone else? In order to have our grading pass, the solution is to add a bunch of retaining walls to our yard. For one the retaining walls look terrible and they also take up and bunch of our already tiny yard, which is a challenge to landscape around and our already designed deck will now need to be redone to work around these retaining walls. I am not sure who's job it was to look after our house and ensure these things don't happen but Trico obviously neglected our house several times and really has no customer service to help with issues. Not only am I upset with how they fixed our grade, I am upset that its now Nov before this is complete which means we lost the entire season of landscaping because Trico dropped the ball. I would have been far more understanding had they kept us in the loop and if I actually felt like they were on top of things, but instead they ignored us, were very disorganized and really did nothing to solve these issues. I feel it should be their job to notice and fix these things, not mine as a home owner I feel like Trico does poor quality work and backs it up with even worse customer service and the homeowner is the one that loses out as Trico does nothing to make up for there errors. I found out that they find out if a yard passes grade on the same day, so why was nothing done about fixing our for 4 months? When I asked this question they have no answer. Like I said before I am not sure how a company can stay in business with this terrible organization and service. Trico is clearly a sinking ship that I would avoid at all costs.

Hi Lyndsey, Thank you for taking the time to provide details regarding your concerns. I am currently speaking with sales, construction and warranty to discuss the build time, communication, follow up, and the grade certificate delay. It is my understanding that you spoke with the site supervisor yesterday regarding the grading. At this point the surveying company has confirmed the grade has been passed and they are issuing the grade certificate. Once we receive we will immediately send you a copy. We take feedback very seriously and value you as a customer. Our sincere apologizes for any delays or miscommunication. Please do not hesitate to contact your warranty coordinator or myself at anytime. I want to assure you that we will respond to your concerns promptly and take all necessary steps to complete warranty work in a timely manner. Warm Regards, Nicole Walker

    homebuilder

Trico was the builder of our second home. After reading very good reviews from various websites, we decided to have them build our home. Overall, it was a pretty good experience as the salesperson Daniel, was always friendly and prompt with any of our questions. Alexandra at the design centre was excellent, although i wish there was more parking as it was downtown. Our only gripe is that we got the news that our house was going to be late. It was slated to be done 30 June 2015, but we ended up getting a possession date of 25 August instead. I'm no homebuilder but seeing what stage the house was in by early May - i was a bit concerned. When i asked about any potential delays, i was told there wasn't any that was known to Daniel. When we finally got the dreaded phonecall late May stating that our home was not going to be ready and they were officially behind. Trico, overall, was extremely diligent in getting down to the task and other than this, i have no worries about their build quality or commitment. I would recommend TRICO to anyone.

    House In Riverson

We were looking for a quick possession as our lease was up in our rental. We found our home with Trico and have been very pleased so far with it. After our first walk through there were several things that needed fixing and were taken care of before we moved in. We are still waiting for some warranty work to be finished from things we found on our walk through on the date of possession. Other than that we found the Trico team in Cochrane to be very easy to work with.

    New Home

We were very excited to build our first home with trico. Prior to building we read a lot of raving reviews on Trico and although the price was a little higher than a couple of builders we decided to go ahead. The sales team was great, both Ted & Justin have been very helpful through out the whole process. However, we are very u satisfied with how Trico has dealt with our issues, after possession as well as the lack skilled trades who worked on our home. Now after a little more than two months there are still issues we are waiting on getting fixed and absolutely no timeline or answers given to us. We have on several occasions taken days off work to have trades complete some work with minimal to nothing completed at all. After making one of the largest purchases we will make, we honestly do not feel like valued customers and feel like Trico simply doesn't care once they have your money. What was supposed to be an exciting experience for us turned out to be frustrating and unpleasant. Overall, I would not recommend Trico to family or friends.

    Spec Home in Riviera

Our family was looking for a quick possession, and Trico had several great options for us to choose from given our timeline. Erin and Jaimie at the Riviera sales center were fantastic to work with pre-sale, and have provided great support since moving in a couple months ago. It's worth the drive if you live in Calgary to visit Trico and the sales team in Cochrane.
