    Construction of Tile Floor

Canada's Restoration Services was hired to install a new subfloor, tile materials such as scratch coat and wire mesh and brand new expensive floor tiles. The construction team for Canada's Restoration Services did not show up for several days after the intended start date. Poor communication, poor workmanship, poor decision making process, floor vents moved without prior authorization, left old dishwasher pipe in the floor and tiled up to valve and left it inoperable. Tile floor ended up being uneven and grout cracked within days. Canada's Restoration Services verbally promised to redo job completely and free. i agreed to this however, after more than a week after this promise Canada's Restoration Services then said that I would have to pay for parts and labour again and would have to use the same job supervisor that created the problems the first time. This was the resolution of Canada's Restoration Services construction department. Their customer service was called about this and said the decision making was in the hands of the construction department and I received no further call backs. I have asked Canada's Restoration Services to pay back the money for the labour that they admitted was not done properly and I have not heard back in months. I went to Canada's Restoration Services originally based on Home Stars reviews and the big name companies that show up on Canada's Restoration Services website. I wonder if those big name companies read these reviews.

    Answer from pro:

Our company was hired to remove the asbestos tiles together with the sub floor that the tiles are glued onto (which we did). The cross beams were not removed because: A. It's structural, and we can't touch these beams with out a written confirmation from a structural engineer instructing us to do so and what support to put in place prior to reconstruction. B. Nowhere on the remediation estimate does it states nor on the scope of work that we were quoting on the removal of these cross beams. C. No where on the construction estimate was there an indication that he will be removing or replacing these beams. As per our construction managers email he did advise you when he was installing the sub floors on top of the cross beams, that the floor will end up too high. You asked him to keep going and that you will be ok with it being high and will install a transition dropper. Only once our work was completed, and the last tile was installed, had you decided to address the fact that the floors came up too high. Now, we followed your engineer's instructions by using the 3/4 plywood as sub floor as well as your instruction to continue working even though he advised you the sub floor would be too high given the size of the height (these cross beams were there they didn't just appear). The structural engineer could easily see that they were existing; had he even been on site post remediation for any observations? Rather then assuming we removed them, there should have been a site observation (we never received a written report instructing us to do so). During the reconstruction phase you had the opportunity to stop our construction manager at any given moment after he suggested that the subfloor 3/4 size will be too high (your instructions were to keep going). You also had the opportunity to stop Charlie when he was installing the tiles as it was evident that the tiles would be too high. We are not at fault for the height issue as we advised you throughout the entire process. Although we offered to come back and fix the issues related to poor workmanship (the uneven tile and grout at no cost) you decided not go head with it. Further more, we had also offered to help with giving you our trades at our costs in order to redo the reconstruction work including the removal of the sub floor and reinstalling the tiles with no profit and reduced costs, but your decision was not to proceed with it. Your email sent to us on September 4th 2016: "I appreciate ____ efforts, professionalism and that he always responded to emails or phone calls in a timely and respectful manner. I appreciate _____ professional and respectful email on Thursday September 1 in an attempt to work things out on a mutual basis. I also appreciate _____ professional and respectful approach Thursday evening to re-examine the job at hand in a very hands on manner as well for his email Friday morning. ______ was really working to resolve the issue even at a cost to himself. In saying this I have weighed many options and will not ask you to work on the floor any further. I ask that you remove the debris that sits on my front porch to complete the paid invoices from the previous floor jobs. Thank you" Unfortunately, our position on this matter remains the same as we had tried to fix the issues related to our poor workmanship and are not at fault for the height of the floor. Mold and asbestos removal

I found Jon from Canada Restoration Services to be both knowledgeable and professional. He was able to detect and determine solutions for both mold and asbestos issues I had in my home. He was quick to respond to my initial inquiry, was punctual for our appointment and provided me with detailed estimates for a number of options. He was always readily available to answer any questions I had. The team was thorough and the work was done quickly, efficiently and to my satisfaction. I found the experience of working with Canada Restoration Services to be reliable and even pleasant. Their pricing is competitive and more than fair for the work done. Although I hope I will not have the need anytime in the near future, I would definitely use their services again and highly recommend them to anyone who is need of this type of service.

    Asbestos inspection

Excellent, efficient service with integrity. Aris Rodriguez from Canada's restoration services arrived on time for the onsite visit to check for asbestos in our "new" house built in 1950s. He was friendly and informative from the initial phone consultation to the end of the inspection. He did not find any evidence of disturbed asbestos in the home around the duct, provided good client education regarding asbestos and made no attempts to sell me services that I didn't need even though I was eager to remove any material that could contain asbestos. 10/10

    Mold in the basement

I had mold in my basement due to a flood, I called Canada’s restoration services they were great! Showed up on time, gave me a fair reasonable quote and cleaned up the mold within 2 days, I hired a third party company to test their work and it passed with very good results. I will defiantly recommend them to all my friends and family.

    Answer from pro:

We appreciate the kind words Avi! We stand behind our work and guarantee that third party clearance will be given. Laura, Customer Service

    Asbestos Abatement

Asked for an asbestos walkthrough after some concerns of possible asbestos in the vents. The project manager was thoroughly helpful throughout the entire process from beginning to end, making sure to explain any issues that could arise. He truly went above and beyond with chasing down the root suspicion which was confirmed to be nothing at all. Will absolutely use this company again!

    Answer from pro:

Hi Barry! We were happy to be of assistance and get down to the root cause (which worked out for the best) - Have a wonderful day :)

    Mold removal and reconstruction

I'm having a terrible experience with their project manager who is not organized at all, he unnecessarily delayed the project, he never provided the estimate when asked, nor did he return my calls or emails on time and he has put me and my tenant in a very difficult situation. If he did not have time to do the job, than maybe he should have told me so that I may find another company. My poor tenant is currently living in a construction zone that was supposed to be done last week. I would never recommend this company after this experience.
