    Mold

We purchased a house in this crazy seller market knowing there is Mold and Asbestos in the basement. We contacted Canada's Restoration Services after seeing them on Mike Holmes again and again. The service from the call to inspection was very good. The project manager ( Alex ) was on time , professional and explained ( we were delighted he came since we have seen him on t.v) . The estimate was clear and we booked the work..the team led by Jason was amazing. We are very happy to recommend this company.

    Asbestos removal

Despite decent reviews on this company, I didn't have a good experience. In terms of the feedback here, I will stay as objective as I can with facts and allow reader to decide. Aris was the main contact. Upon initial quote a phone call, he understood what it would take to remove Asbestos, we felt Canada's restoration service offered the most comprehensive procedure and decided to go with them. Given we had other quotes, Aris matched other quotes at 1k+tax. On the day of service, my sister was present. When the crew came, she called me saying the crew looked extremely young. Upon asking them for their qualifications, one male staff said he took a course in college. The other even younger staff didn't. As Aris promised that professional staff will be handling this job, I told my sister to go ahead anyways. For the Asbestos removal, home residents can not stay in the house. So my sister left the house. Upon returning, here is where the problem started. My sister noticed that the central AC fan is on, and workers didn't wear masks to protect themselves as the AC fan was still left on. When she asked why wasn't the AC turned off, the crew responded with it is not necessary. She immediately called Aris. Aris called his crew. Then the story changed, Aris said they did turn it off. And the crew's story also changed. Here is my subjective opinion: 1. Aris and Canada's Restoration Service placed their inexperienced worker at harm. They could have been breathing in some of these Asbestos fibres (which is why you want to remove them in the first place). Our HVAC company won't come to fix anything until this was removed. The workers are young, and maybe inexperienced to protect themselves, but it is Aris and Canada's restoration's responsibility, not some course that they took. 2. There was no admittance of changing story and presenting inconsistency from Aris and Canada's restoration. 3. They put family and home owners at harm as well. What I did immediately is going to home depot, bought HEPA air purifiers for about $500 to ensure any air bourn fibers can be caught and filtered. We also asked Aris to return as I think there might have been some residue. Aris did come to our place, when I was there. I told him I did buy the air purifiers due to this incident and expect him and his company to subsidize/pay for. Aris said I did not consult with him, and didn't understand that I did it to protect my family. He said no. Aris went back, some how generating another invoice showing 20% discount but we had agreed to 1k+tax, it ended only being $70 cheaper. Anyways, it is not the money that I am concerned about. Canada's restoration service perform the type of service that can make families well or ill. Their crew showed inexperience and I was not satisfied with their service. I give 1 star because Aris did come to my place for a second time.

    Mould/Liquid damage inspection

We ripped up the carpet in a house we just bought and found what we thought was mould. I contacted CRS and they came the next day. Aris found that it was a surface drip that caused it and there were no internal leaks or anything to be concerned with. I'm so grateful for the peace of mind and that he was honest enough to let me know there was nothing they needed to be brought in for. Thank you!

    Roof/Door Frame Leak

Aristides from Canada's Restoration Services came to inspect my property for a leak. Using his infrared camera he was able to detect the location of the leak and how the water traveled. Aristides was professional and personable. He presented easy to fix suggestions and sound advice. I would thoroughly recommend this company.

Infrared Camera's are a great way to pin point exactly what area's are wet even when it can't be seen with the human eye. Glad to have been able to assist in your time of need! - Aris, Senior Project Manager

    MILD mould remediation

We had some surface mould on drywall from an old water leak that we finally wanted to address. I was very skeptical about the "depth" of the problem. I called a couple of companies - two advised that there was nothing more to be done other than removing drywall, vapour barrier and insulation and replacing (i.e. no need for additional cleaning). But of course, there is always that lingering thought in the back of your mind - what if it's more severe. CRS reviewed the problem and suggested full remediation. I went ahead because the staff was very easy to deal with, seemed genuine and competent. Maybe I should have trusted my gut and just not bothered since in the end there wasn't much to fuss about once the old materials were removed. That's my fault. Although in hindsight I wonder if CRS should have known that too, based on experience - what would be typically found behind the walls in this situation? I docked 1 point for this. The service itself - however - I have no problems with. They were easy to deal with, easy to get a hold of, stood behind their work. The cleaning crew was respectful of our space. Unfortunately, a tiny section of the ceiling stucco go nicked in the process of the cleaning and CRS took responsibility and repaired it. It would have been costly for us to otherwise get someone in for such a small job. In the future, if we do have a real mould issue, I will be using CRS without a doubt. What I appreciated most is that CRS stood behind their work and stayed true to their word. That is a rarity and I appreciate their commitment to quality. All the staff I spoke to were pleasant and friendly which also goes a long way in what otherwise can be very stressful times (renovations are never easy!).

    Answer from pro:

Unfortunately that is the thing with mold - it can be lurking in behind walls or it may not. Given the fact that there was a previous water leak, we have to assume that it is a possibility. We thank you very much for the kind words and we were very happy to be able to assist you with the mould remediation. Alissa - Customer Service Manager
