    Washing Machine drain pump repair

    I called Peter at Modern Appliance and explained that my washing machine wasn't draining water. I had already removed the maintenance cover of the machine, drained the water, and cleaned the drain filter myself, but it still wasn't working so I thought I needed a tech. Peter advised that he could send a tech, but that I should take a closer look as there could be something blocking the pump blades from turning and sure enough there was one of my wife's hairpins! Peter said that the pump was probably working, but to remove the pin and check, otherwise they would send a service tech to replace the part. With a bit of effort I detached the motor from the drain filter and removed the pin and the thing works fine now! Thanks to Peter's honesty and advice on the phone, I saved $150+ on the part plus the cost of labour. I realize that many people may not be able to do the work I did themselves, but I would like to think that this story exemplifies MA's honesty and character. I would absolutely call them again!

    Kenmore Washer

    Spoke to Peter Thursday morning and he quickly diagnosed the probable issue. He came by, on schedule, on Good Friday. Very friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to call him again or recommend him to family. Awesome job Peter. Thanks.

    Oven repair

    We blew the thermal fuse on our kitchen aid oven using the self cleaning "feature". Peter responded quickly to my email, diagnosed the problem and provided an accurate estimate, and arranged to be at my house a few hours later. He arrived on time, was personable, professional and quick. Highly recommended!

    Dishwasher repair

    Our 2007 Bosch dishwasher kept shutting off, making a grinding sound. Like it was trying to fill but no water flowing. had to make two calls, the first time the dishwasher worked fine. Second time it malfunctioned with him there. Turns out mice had chewed away at a part and the sensor that checked for flooding was shutting off the machine unnecessarily. Fixed and works fine now. Peter is trustworthy, arrives on time (!) and knows his stuff. A couple of repair guys refused to attempt a repair on a Bosch dishwasher, saying it was too intricate. Highly recommended.

    Washing machine repair

    Washing machine broke on Sunday evening. Called at 0800 Monday morning and left a msg. Got a prompt call back by 0830. Able to diagnose problem over the phone and order a part. Part installed Tues and washer working well now. Great communication. Came when promised. Neat, clean and quiet while working in our house.

    Dryer repair

    Called Peter Monday morning and he was here before noon. Diagnosed problem and came prepared so repair was very quick and reasonable. Thank you so much. I am very satisfied and will call you again for my next repair.

    Dishwasher Repair

    Peter was extremely helpful from the start. Before booking a service call he suggested that I call the manufacturer to ensure that there had not been a recall for the problem I was experiencing. This indicated to me that I was dealing with an honest person who would rather help a prospective client save money than to make the profit himself. Since the issue was not covered due to a recall, Peter was able to order the necessary part for me and repair the dishwasher in an timely manner while diligently following up with me along the way. I was extremely pleased with the quality of service I received.

    Oven not working

    I wish all contractors were like Peter. First of all, he returned my call promptly. I left messages with five other contractors and Peter was the only one who returned my call. I was in a meeting at the time and couldn't take his call so he left me a message - and what a great message!. I had mentionned in my message that the oven in our stove had suddenly stopped working. In his message, Peter suggested that I check the timer clock setting because if it was set to manual that would prevent the oven from being able to be turned on. Sure enough, that was the problem. My wife had cleaned the top of the stove and had inadvertently turned the dial on the timer. Because Peter was kind enough and considerate enough to leave that suggestion in his message, the problem was fixed promptly and at no cost. I've put his name and number in my contact list and will be sure to call him if I have any appliance problems in the future. I wish all contractors were like Peter.

    Dishwasher install

    I've called Modern appliance over the years a couple of times. I needed to get my washing machine and dishwasher fixed. I ended up just buying a new dishwasher and had peter do the install for me. I find him very easy to work with, gets right back to you, gives you cost estimate, is punctual and very reasonable for pricing. would definitely recommend him!

    Dryer Repair

    I called Modern Appliance late last week about getting my Dryer repaired. Peter was great to work with. He called to confirm my email I posted on homestars.com to get all the details and try to see if it was just a breaker issue. He arrived on time and fixed the dryer with the price he quote on the phone from the initial repair spec. I would def recommend Modern Appliance if anyone needs appliance repairs.
