    Left in the Cold...

    *** UPDATE, Janaury 26, 2018 *** The Spring Home Heating and Cooling Assistant Manager, Sam, called me after seeing the review (below) and said he wanted to help understand what happened and hopefully improve any shortcomings. He also offered to refund the original $100 charge that I wasn't happy with and proceeded to do so. I must admit for a company to take this step is very gratifying and definitely shows that they ARE interested in helping customers and showing they are dedicated to customer service. I would therefore consider recommending this company again, as they have shown that they are human, and willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. I appreciate that. --------------------------------------------------- The Spring Home Heating and Cooling Service technician came on Friday, December 22, 2017 when our furnace was not working properly. It would come on for 5-12 seconds and then cut out. The technician could NOT solve the problem and said it was either the Gas Valve or the Controller Board – two major components. Which could cost hundreds of dollars to install. He checked and said that the Gas valve would not be in stock until January 10-12, 2018, approximately 3 weeks later – during one of the coldest spells of the year. The technician left the furnace open and inoperable, leaving us to freeze in our home. That night, while trying to stay warm, my wife and I talked about it and thought that it makes no sense in putting hundreds of dollars into an old, cheap (builders model) furnace, and decided that we would buy a new, updated furnace. After all this furnace was over 11 years old. My wife then said, since we are getting a new furnace, perhaps I could put our old furnace together again (remember the technician left it off and not working), so at least we would continue to get 5-12 second bursts of warm air, every couple of minutes. Since we were getting a new furnace we didn’t care if the old one “conked” out after recyling on and off over and over. At least his “band-aid” effort allowed us some comfort. A warm burst of air every couple of minutes. The day after the technician left, I contacted four Heating/furnace companies and they immediately came over on Saturday. And in a couple of days, we had a brand new, furnace. Since Spring Home Heating and Cooling Service could not diagnose the problem correctly, and left us high and dry and extremely COLD, we would never call Spring Home Heating and Cooling Service again – for service or to purchase any product. And I would recommend to other people to do the same.

    Excellent service, incredibly cost-effective

    Two older Carrier furnaces heat our 3 storey home. Main furnace was cycling repeatedly and would not lift the temperature on 2 lower floors above 18 degrees. Tech came out and tested both furnaces, cleaned the pressure switch on the main furnace and it has worked perfectly for weeks, including the recent cold snap. Bottom line: Cost-effective fast service. We will use them again for sure.

    Was recommended to us and we will happily recommend

    We needed a new air conditioner. I asked friends for recommendations and most people said "I wouldn't recommend the company we used". One friend replied with a glowing recommendation for Spring Home. We also were very happy with the service and level of communication. We plan to use them for our furnace needs as well.

    Hot Water Tank Installation

    We finally decided to change our inefficient 19-year old rented hot water tank. Enercare technician came to our place to see whether the new tank could be installed with new white pipes without major work to our finished basement The old tank was hooked up with old black pipes. The sad verdict was that our finished basement ceiling had to be opened up substantially resulting in extra installation cost. A second independent installer offered the same opinion. Both technicians disregarded our suggestions that they could take advantage of the existing openings cut through the ceiling, when we had our new furnace installed to replace the old furnace (also 19-year old and inefficient). With much distress, we contacted Spring Home who had installed our new furnace in the past. To our big relief, we were advised that the installation of the new water tank can be done without opening our basement ceiling. On top of that, we also got a good quote for a top name hot water tank. With their ingenuity, Spring Home installers did a clean job, taking full advantage of the existing openings created by the installation of the new furnace a few years ago. Spring Home also offered me a discount for my 2017 preventative maintenance when we reported some minor dents on the newly installed hot water tank. Such classy act! Finally, while performing this year maintenance, Spring Home installer charged me both the inspection of the central humidifier (also installed by Spring Home together with the new furnace) and a new replacement pad. When informing Cheryl that we only needed the new pad, Spring Home gladly refunded me the cost of the humidifier inspection. Another excellent customer service act! Having my furnace, central humidifier and hot water tank sold and installed by Spring Home, we confidently conclude that there’s NO need to shop around for our AC replacement in the near future!

    Excellent furnace and installation

    Our furnace started having problems and a repairman told us that there was a crack in the heat exchanger, that couldn’t be replaced because our furnace was too old, and they couldn’t get the parts. Our old furnace was very noisy, and it wasted a lot of energy. We had to find a replacement because it was November and winter was on its way. I called a friend who referred me to Spring Home Heating & Cooling Systems, and I am so glad that she did. The owner came to our house a few hours after I had called, and offered to bring space heaters because our house was getting quite cold. (No other company had offered that, so we were very impressed with his kindness.) He spent time with my husband and I, asking us questions about our needs and our expectations. He described different types of furnaces, and also advised us about the 2017 Ontario Government Furnace Rebate Programme. Spring Home kindly assisted us with our application for the Rebate.) We considered his expert opinion and we appreciated his expertise. He patiently answered all our questions, and then gave us a fair quote on the furnace that we chose. We selected the Lennox SLP98UH090XV36C modulating furnace and I’m glad that we did. It heats the whole house, and it does it very quietly! Even the bedroom that is located furthest away from the furnace (that used to be so cold) is now warm. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a furnace. We save a huge amount of money on our monthly energy bills. I also enjoy the Lennox IComfort Wifi that allows us to adjust the thermostat from our cellphones. I want to add that Spring Home’s installation team was top-notch. They laid drop-sheets down to protect our floors, put protective covers on their boots, were careful to not bump into any walls, and worked quietly and efficiently. Before they left they cleaned their work area and explained how the Icomfort Wifi Thermostat works. I should also mention that Spring Home’s Customer Support team have been very helpful. I was so impressed when Cheryl called me to arrange a follow-up appointment to check on the furnace and answer any questions we have. I only have good comments to make about Spring Home. They are an excellent HVAC company in every aspect of their business.

    Skymark Gatehouse Heater outside

    The guys at the Gate Hut are warm this winter after renovating. New Windows and Heater outside. They enjoy this winter the best Gatehouse ever. It means they open the window to greet tenants coming in with a smile. It is a lonely job but being warm and comfortable surely helps for better customer service, in this case being the person welcoming you home.

    Replacing Furnace and A/C

    Spring Home did a wonderful job replacing our furnace, a/c and hot water heater tank . The sales rep was very thorough and answered all our questions patiently. The installation team was very professional and did a fantastic clean job. Customer service is great as well especially Cheryl. Very happy with the service .

    No heat, quick fix

    Thanks to Cheryl and Tiger at Spring Home who quickly got my furnace working. I had lost heat, called Spring Home and within a few hours Tiger showed up with the correct furnace part in hand to replace a failed one. While installing it he also provided some useful tips for operating my humidifier. I have used Spring Home since 2012 for annual maintenance of my HVAC system (purchased from them in 2012) and this speedy and efficient emergency response was gratis as a result .....

    FURNACE & AC

    We bought our furnace & hvac from Spring Home. They installed & doing the maintenance ever since and we're very happy with the company. Their tech people are really professional. David just visited us for furnace tune up/maintenance, etc...Happy and satisfied....

    New Furnace and AC

    It was time to replace our furnace and ac. Knowing that this would be a big expense, We did our homework and arranged for 4 estimates from difference sized companies. Sam was the only rep to go down to the basement and outside for the a/c, inspect the area and explain in detail the work that would be need to be done. He provided the most thorough estimate and he made us understand all the new features. We are completely satisfied with our purchase and would highly recommend Spring Home, ask for SAM!
