This is the second time I have contacted Water Works in the past few months. I was very happy with their service in August, and this past weekend, our kitchen sink drain clogged (wife and kids unfortunately do not use the strainer very well) and tend to use the sink as a garbage can, much to my chagrin. As my wife runs a home daycare, we needed a working kitchen sink (even if we didn't, we still need a working kitchen sink). Initially, at first, I decided to try to do it myself. I went to the local hardware store, bought all the equipment - snakes, plunger, etc., and went to work. I even took out the new pipes that were put in, in August, but the clog was deeper in. Several hours later I gave up and thought I'd give Water Works a call. I was hoping they would be able to do same day service on the weekend. I was not hopeful that I would be able to get someone, but was pleasantly surprised when I called that I got a live person. I explained the situation and she said that Larry is currently on a job and she can fit him in if we needed him right away. I said yes.
Within an hour or so, Larry was at my door. Last time I dealt with Michael, but Larry was just as professional and pleasant. I didn't expect to get a photo beforehand like last time since I called last minute, but was impressed by how responsive Water Works was. Larry listened to everything that I told him thus far, took a look at the pipe structure, went into the basement to look at some more pipes and then asked me several questions to ascertain details. He then explained the pricing structure of labour, and opened up his price book. This is one thing I really like about Water Works - everything is laid out so there's no guesswork in terms of what price one is paying. I am also glad I signed up for the protection program previously as that got me 10% off the job. I agreed to the rates, signed the form, and then he went to work with us equipment.
The clog was extremely deep (Larry mentioned it was about 20 feet in, which is about right since my hardware store snake was only 10 feet or so)...Larry had the mechanical snake and took several attempts before he unclogged it. This was definitely something that I could not have done myself. He cleaned everything up, gave me some suggestions that I already knew (ie. my family should not be dumping stuff down the drain), and left.
I have to say that what I really appreciated was the quick response. I thought that the posted rate was rather high to unclog a drain, but I was in no position to say anything since they came quickly, was professional and responsive. Plus, the rates were all laid out on paper, so I knew that I would have to be paying. I am also so glad I paid for the protection plan and would recommend that others do so. I would call Water Works again in an instant for immediate assistance on plumbing. I like the fact that they can schedule people depending on how urgent a job is, and the fact that we got Larry within an hour of calling was remarkable, and most appreciated. This company is very professional, high on integrity, and definitely deserves the 10 out of 10 stars that I am giving them. Thanks Larry, for a job well done!
