General contractor service: Renovation; Detached house

Would like to open up the kitchen so it's exposed/connected to the family/dining room (currently used as family room, was a dining room). Initial thoughts attached as the 4th photo but very interested in hearing other ideas. We want to 1) make the existing galley kitchen less isolated when entertaining 2) add bar stool seating to allow people to so other stuff while food is being prepared (in photo 4 this is proposed as facing the living/dining area overlooking the sink and cook top 3) retain a seperate living/dining space (although we're fine with it being relocated to elsewhere) 4) retain the existing footprint of the house (no additions).

Install or renovate kitchen: Renovate kitchen

We want to connect the galley kitchen to the rest of the space so anybody in there isn't isolated from the rest of the house. Also want to integrate spaces (through bar seating) where somebody can sit and work/talk. An initial thought on how to do this is in photo 4 of the attached photos, with the elevated bar seating in the adjacent room facing into the kitchen. But we're open minded on how to achieve pur goals, the photo was just an initial thought.

Like to move the hot tub off the patio to the green space.

I need a hole cut into the dry wall of the ceiling (roughly 2 ft x 4 ft) to facilitate replacement of a ceiling mounted heat pump unit occurring mid-April. After the installation, I then need the hole in the dry wall to be repaired. I'd like to explore options of closing up the ceiling while maintaining full access to the heat pump. Right now there is a small access door.
